I'm possibly buying a s/h set of Morettes with HID dip to replace my standard MY01 lights.

Is this a straightforward job or are there any snags to be aware of? Is it feasible as a DIY job or is better to pay for them to be fitted, any idea how much it would cost?

Hi Silent Monkey

I'm thinking along the same lines but can't find much out - have a look at Alta Sports.

I can't get onto the SS website for any more info.

How easy / costly is it to upgrade headlights to HID if already have dip - is it a full new / additional setup?

It's relatively easy.

I posted a set of wiring connection instructions a while ago - I have them saved, if you decide to do them yourself let me know and I will post them for you.

Oh, and I am selling a virtually unused HID conversion for them at £125 less than a new set in the for sale section.....

Monkey,

Assuming they've already been fitted to another car, they should go straight in. The Morettes use the same mounting bolts and lamp connectors as the standard units...the only difference is a bit of extra live/neutral wiring which ought to be pretty obvious

I've just sold my Morettes to Scooby Doo Blue and all he's got to do is connect live and neutral to the battery and snap the connectors on to the lights.

Hi all,

Physically it's a piece of p1ss, took me about half an hour to do the upgrade to UK300 lights (pretty much the same as Morrettes), I was a bit nervous about doing this but it turned out sooo much easier that I thought.

The only tricky bit was getting the lamp alignment right.
Cheers,

Simon

No-one seems to be able to get the alignment perfect, I've got mine way too high at the moment so I wind up never using full beam!

Timbo,
I'll try and get some pics posted this weekend (depends if I get round to cleaning the thing first!

:)

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds simple enough :D

Scott,

Don't want to hijack Monkey's thread but I was intrigued by your post.

Are your Morettes Matt Black? Maybe that's a better alternative. I had mine body colour and they just didn't look right IMHO as they didn't fit in with the other body panels, but the WR lights afo UK300 are Matt Black and look o.k. as they are obviously not meant to be 'part of the bodywork'

Got any other pics form other angles? (e.g the front)

Timbo.

Also how d'you do that ickle scoobie at the bottonm of your post?

Timbo33 05 October 2002 08:46 AM

Tell me about it!!! Why d'you think I've gone back to Bug Eyes!!!!:D:D

Simon, You got any pics of your car?

Timbo ..

Out of the box the morettes are black ABS. Did not colour code them out of laziness really .. They still look ok IMHO ..

Another front pic

Lamp alignment .. I cheated and took it to a MOT place and asked them to check/adjust as necessary .. if a friendly station will only take a few quid..

The image is a sig file I use on ScoobyCity
Basically a side pic of my car squished down .. Played around in paintshop pro 7 & animationshop 3 .. to get flashing lights .
