Sonic boom over Coventry
 

Anyone hear it?

MoD are saying it was a Typhoon on an emergency call.

That's all that I've heard too seems a bit strange tho..

heard it on radio 2 this morning, they said that 2 Typhoon's had been scrambled to an emergency call from a civilian helicopter, and where already on the way to it when the pilot of the helicopter realised he'd made a mistake!:cuckoo:

The bang was around 18:20 not this morning lol

Yes I heard it over here in Kenilworth,,,,thought it was canons over at the castle at first, but then heard about the mod press release..

LOL, had i heard a sonic boom through the radio i reckon i would be needing new ears;)

Are they not allowed to do them then?

Not allowed to exceed the speed of sound over land in peacetime I think. This is why, maks a ****ing loud bang and everyone panics and phones the police and stuff :D

Me, I think they should be allowed to give it the beans everywhere :)

Heard it here in Carterton, 20 miles west of Oxford. It was loud enough that I thought there had had been an accident outside!

I bet they are doing training for the Olympics.

Hello mate it was really loud i think we should all run for the mountains now before its to late.

Exceeding the sound barrier is illegal over land in UK (and probably lots of other countries) in peacetime, plus what good is scrambling a Typhoon to help a helicopter in trouble. What could they do after all, apart from shoot it down?!

we dont have any mountains in swindon ...we would have to go to wales.. but im back at work tomorrow,i may get called to wales...

i saw the typhoon over bath,it looked like it was going to crash going real slow.

How loud is it then because I have no idea what a sonic boom should sound like?

QRA aircraft, so can go supersonic over land if "necessary".

Oh yeah... Was very loud, thought it was another car accident out front. They did finally mention it on radio news at 7 pm... Can't really buy into the helicopter theory tbf:wonder:
