Gas struts on Saloon boot lid

Anyone fitted them?

If so, what length struts would I need and any issues to be aware of?

I recently changed the spoiler over to a high level and the weight difference means that if the wind shuts the boot on my hand, I'll have to get special controls on the steering wheel. Not ideal.

you just need the sti springs as opposed to the wrx ones and it wont shut on your hand mate

Didn't think it would be that simple. Cheers Sedge.

If I wanted to go down the gas piston route so that when I pop the boot release in the car, it goes up under it's own power, would I have many problems getting this working?

to be honest mate i have no idea, but seeing as other cars have that system on them i dont see why it isnt feasible but i wouldnt know where to start

could u not look into changing the springs from another make of car? i no mercs just use springs with 3 different settings on the hinge. av heard stories of people opening there boot lids and the springs being so strong its caugh them on the chin and knocked them out!
