In my opion not needed, standard rubber belt is perfectly adequate

have never seen the point of these belts.use a good quality belt from gates etc and pefectly fine even for big power engines.have never heard of a scooby belt snapping either in a long time.

I believe the Gates kevlar belt is the same as the cosworth belt only £50 cheaper. I believe gates make the belts for cosworth.

i had a gates rubber belt slip 2 teeth on my old 2.5 engine (430bhp) from a launch, the cosworth belt on the new 2.1 hasnt missed a beat and has a lot more abuse, for the price difference its a no brainer if you ask me.

Gates and cosworth are the same belts

We tend to spec Kevlar belts for use with uprated cams on the basis that extra rpm is a given, and there is more load applied when pushing higher lift cams against higher poundage springs. We also like to use quality belt guides.
Other than that, a good quality stock belt is fine.
