Insurance for youngster's

Since im rather bored after leaving work thought id let people know how mad insurance is for youngsters

1st year of driving i was £1538 fully comp on a 1.4 S leon 16 valve, Standard, etc, massive excess of about £800!! that was with Tesco ( That was with my 10% staff discount at the time and also 15% discount for all first time insurers during that month!!. So realistically i was looking at 2k upwards in a normal case.

Got my year's no claims!! boom . .Renewal . . from the same insurer!! £1533 quid!! yes ladies and gent's !! a whole £5 less dangerous to them!! balls!! so after a quick shop around . . as i will admit . .anything under 1k was hugely appealing. i managed to get £700 fully comp with the rac, lower excess, but a lot better coverage (20 days abroad, low glass replacement excess Bla Bla Bla!!)

After some rather expensive problems with the leon last year and the mileage getting higher. . Decided to upgrade. .to a leon cupra 1.8T in red. No mods, standard . .maximum mileage of around 10k a year.

£5,000 from the RAC !! WTF. . that's double the cars value.. . shopped around and here's what i got

Keith michaels : £2600 fully comp
greenlight : wouldnt insure
Hic £3200
Performance direct: £2900
elephant: wont insure
Adrian Flux £2900
tiger.co.uk £2300
admiral (Single car policy) £3400 odd
Multicar £1405 for leon, 1022 for mums car with me on aswell!!
NFU Mutual: wont insure
Brentacre!! 1983!!

Decided to go with brentacre as there the lowest i can get. .

It's only a matter of time till younger driver's or maybe convicted drivers choose not to insure there cars and will increase as the rates get higher!!

I live in a very quite area (ab53) 21 in August,1 years NCB, parent as named driver on all those quotes,no convictions or claims or anything.

Lord knows how they can figure out some of the quotes at all

Classed as a sports car mate. I get hit hard on my subaru coz of my job mate. Some companies wanted £6k with 9 years ncb and driving mate

It's totally pointless. I Understand the risk factor in insurance and how it affect's prices. . . But it's like petrol. . Why is there a huge hike in prices and to justify it!!!

my lad just started shopping around for quotes for his gl subaru and managed to get a company quoting £1100 fully comp with just him as a provisional driver even putting an experianced driver on the policy and doing a search again the costs nearly doubled so its worth doing a go compare single driver only

Unfortunately it's because of the increased cost of claims.

Give elephant a try mate. I also tried all manner of insurance companies and found them by far the cheapest. I had never even contemplated them before until a mate recommended them who had been with them for 7 years with no problems what so ever. worth a try. think the next cheapest was Greenlight then A-plan then Keith Michaels.

just had my renewal from sky and for the first time in 2 years they can not match any were near other quotes ive had,
the insurance on the NA scoob jumped from 400 to near 700! were as admiral, rac, elephant(same as admiral i know lol) and direct line can quote at £340 ??? best sky could get was down to wat i was paying last year? fail!
il wait to see what there renewal price on the second turbo scoob? i may have to change from sky altogether? :-(

The two I found most reasonable were ecar and asda insurance (who I'm currently insured with.) They were the only two that didn't give a silly quote for my impreza

Also your always going to have trouble with a turbo'd car! Dropping the T bomb tends to stick another 0 on the end of your quote!

That is true. Awaiting to drop of payment for the new car this weekend. will keep phoning round insurance for quotes

Jamo 13 April 2012 06:25 PM

id rather drive a smart car than pay that lol.

Nice car has got the better of me. Insurance now a days. . Not a lot i can do about it.

Moley. Is it okay to phone you when your next in and see if you can beat Frazers quote of £2600 FC.

im getting around 1900 TPFT. . Wonder if you can work your magic on this one.:D

I got a shock with the impreza. WRX PPP estate, 2005 car.
I was paying £200 on a Mk1 MR2, then £290 on a BMW 328i for a couple of years. Previously I'd had a 200SX - around £500.
This year I had to do about 2 days work to get the Impreza insured at £600. very, very few insurers would even quote for it.

And that's at 31, 5 years NCD, never crashed, no points, advanced driving qualifications, driving 13 years.

If everyone made a vow to stop crashing imprezas, perhaps we could bring the quotes down!
