650bhp turbo?

We are looking to raplace our GT4088R twin scroll turbo on our time attack hawkeye. We want 650hp with the best spool possible..

I looked to bornwarner turbos, S300SX FWM looks good.

Any opinions or other options?

GT35 Billet?

Adofly 06 April 2012 01:38 PM

Anything better than that?

MartynJ 06 April 2012 01:51 PM

You'll not find better than the Clinic Billet 35R in normal rotated position, but if you are front mounted and not space limited then the Borg Warner EFR series may be worth a look.

No space problem, this is a racing car.

Where can I find EFR turbos?
The turbo I actually want is the EFR8374.

I cheked there...there's a problem with the supply in the US on the ERRs, the next good turbo I was adviced was the borgwarner S300SX FMW, but I could not find more people to cross check results. Who supplies these turbos in the UK?

MartynJ 06 April 2012 02:41 PM

I'll make some enquiries for you on Tuesday if you like ?

Are you tried to contact Turbo dynamics? I think they're dealers of the Borg&Warner

I know Full race in the US has, but the freight is a killer. Turbodynamics do not list this turbo, but I have already sent them an email.

Thanks guys

What power is the 4088 doing ?,is it too laggy ?

stevebt 06 April 2012 04:55 PM

Isn't the gt4094 a better spooling turbo? I considered it myself onetime but thought it would stress too many parts out.

Fueling, breathing and ecu is a must but I can't see how it can do bad? The banana runs this turbo.

I does 610bhp at 1.9 bar, it is not too laggy since my engine is fully built high compression and well tuned, but I can always handle better spool up, the GT4088 is an old turbo, I'm looking for something with newer technology in it.

dazdavies 09 April 2012 08:47 AM

My billet 35r made 601bhp 565 ft lbs at 1.8bar. This was on a car with standard cams. The 35r billet especially the new generation ones are pretty hard to beat and on the right set up using the right fuel will do 700bhp and beyond. They shouldn't be overlooked that's for sure!!!

I have ordered a BW S300SX from the US, I'll have it in 15 days, as soon as it is installed, I will post my impression.

garrett do an 'x' range (i.e. GT30 with new blade design is a GTX30) which i believe spool quicker than the old range and it could mean you just buy a new core, so save a few quid too...... the guy on the phone at owen developments is very very helpful - and they give competitor discount

other thoughts: nitrous, twin turbo, heat managment
