Kinghams in Croydon still there

I'm amazed R N Golden are still in business at all with the prices they try and charge... I emailed them a few weeks back for a price for a basic service on my 05 sti, oil change, air filter & spark plugs.........

That'll be £522.00 sir!!!!!!

dunx 01 April 2012 12:17 AM

My one and only attempt to buy from R.N. Golden, wanted an exhaust gasket, led to a wasted trip and a week's delay.... as they didn't actually have any in stock.

Grrrr !

Actually, I went to look and try the STI hatch, but it didn't do anything better than a bug STI so why bother ?

IMHO.

Subaru are actually doing really well in the uk this year:

http://www.thisissomerset.co.uk/Suba...ail/story.html

And the BRZ should sell quite well. And also the new self cleaning paintwork?

Specifically the engine issues with the 2.5 and Subaru's despicable attitude
I'm sure you're a great dealer -just like my own, but you can only do so much at the end of the day.

That surprises me as they are always the cheapest when I ring around at service time (£100 cheaper than other Subaru dealers on the 50k / 5yr timing belt change service)

Kezzo80 03 April 2012 11:09 AM

Not surprised main dealers are falling by the wayside.

Fewer new car sales, less after sales work as more and more people choose specialists for servicing etc.

A well known north Wales mitsubishi garage used to do my servicing on my first Evo.......until I found out they were basically doing sweet fa and charging for a full service. Suffice to say I never took any of my other evos to main dealers again.

Let's see if a Subaru main dealer sees my Scoob when I finally buy one..........Can blue bridge restore my faith!

I was gobsmacked when I saw the price, had to re-read the email about 5 times over thinking I'd read it wrong!

How much did your 50k service work out at from them?

Mines already had the 50k service done (at 35k!) at another dealer by the previous owner, think it was about £360 without digging out the invoice to confirm it.

chopperman 03 April 2012 01:21 PM

Main stealer's charge about £85 per hour plus parts and fluids. Very over priced just to get a subaru stamp in your book imo.

Depends what dealer you go to , and you would get synionic engine with us for a car over 3 years old .

Like wise, we do preferential rates that are the same as an independant specialist but with all the normal facilitys of a main dealer :thumb:
Find it proves very worthwhile whilst restoring faith in the dealer network.

we arnt all Crooks, we listen to what the customer requires and do it so it doesnt hurt the bank balance at the same time :thumb:

£460 for the 50k / 5yr which was a lot cheaper than other dealers.
It is booked in next week and likewise mine has only done 38k but gives me some piece of mind with the belt change

rob84 03 April 2012 07:48 PM

would do the 50k/5yr £370 inc the dreaded vat all genuine parts used

Exciting news*- Colin Appleyard have recently been appointed official Subaru dealers in Huddersfield and Ashton. We believe the Subaru range compliments our existing Suzuki offering very well and you'll find them located side-by-side at the aforementioned dealerships, where the Subaru XV, Outback and Forrester models are available for test drives. Get in touch to arrange yours or just come in for a chat and a look around.
