Is my headgasket Knackered
ok checked the water level last week decided to add water as there seemed to be none in the resvoir but full in the main tank so filled a bit through the expantion bottle.
now the water comes out the main tank and into the expantion and out the overfill pipe. top radiator pipe is warm and bottom one is cold tho. tried burping the system was getting some air bubbles but nothing now. oh and the heaters run warm no problem does any1 have any ideas? HG or something else infact ive not heard of any1 having the same symtoms and no overheating problems! cheers. |

Have you got an air lock? And a leak?
|
check your water pump mate, if that goes it will produce the same effects as a gasket failure
|
Get a garage to sniff test it for exhaust gasses as another poster said. If thats ok them look at rad cap, hose leaks or air locks.
|
Cheers lads I'll get a sniffer on it today!
|
well thats been confirmed there is exhaust gases in my water:(
so whats my options now? cylinder head repair replace whole engine break it for parts |
I'd get the head gaskets done, and, while the engine is out, have the bearings done on the crank etc, since they have a habit of going just after the head gaskets are done.
Replacing the whole engine with an unknown quantity might cost you and put you in the same boat 6 weeks down the line:( Breaking is an option, but isn't quite as easy as you might believe. |
well its going into a specialist on monday who has said it could be a porus head rather than a gasket and will try and sort so heres hoping will keep you updated.
