Its pobably completely different but do you want me to run my Prodrive decat C/P up for my MY01 so you can compare it?

Its not fitted at the moment so should be easy enough.

...a PPP'd centre pipe ??????

I'm not convinced the CP on my MY00 has been changed, but am unsure how to "recognise" an OE CP / Prodrive CP.

Please can someone help me

er.. the ppp doesn't replace the center pipe.. only the backbox, chip and a samco hose on the intercooler.. o and you get a nice certificate :)

PPP included a centre decat section on my MY00 - I have the catted one in my attic, and they look quite similar, but I laid the catted one on the drive next to the new section before to compare and they do look different - the catted one has an extra bulge, but both have a resonator, but I'll need to have a dig around in the attic to give you a better comparison. There is a lot of confusion over which cars have centre cats - I thought all UK/Euro MY99/00 had them, but from the other thread TSL suggest this is not the case. Seems very odd!

On the pre-99 car's the PPP only changed the backbox, hosing and air filter. On the 99/00 cars, the PPP include a catless centre section too as well as the change from the Ramair filter to an ITG(?) one.

I fitted a MY99 PPP centre section a few weeks back and from the outside it looked identical to the standard centre it replaced. The only way to tell was to shine a torch into the resonator. On the std centre, you could clearly see the honeycomb of the cat, but on the PPP one you couldn't see anything other than a big hollow tube :)

The only way to be 100% sure, is to take it off (10min job) and have a look inside with a torch. Obviously, make sure you look in the end with the resonator :)

Thanks guys, this is really useful stuff. The car is a MY00 and has the PPP BUT I'm half thinking that the original owner may have told them NOT to change the CP as he may have been concerned over legal/MOT etc...... I on the otherhand.... !!

Any other tips on this gratefully rec'd, but thanks again for the help so far.

AFAIK, the main cat is in the downpipe and this alone should get you through an MOT successfully.

If you remove all of the cats and just fit the centre back before the MOT, then this may not be enough. Some have passed OK by giving the car a good thrashing before hand to get the Cat up to temperature.

The centre takes minutes to re-fit so is the simplest option for those who run full de-cats.
