Parker New England captain

Best choice imo, he has been England's best player in the past 12 months :thumb:

Keeps the continuity once Harry takes over, if indeed he does.

No idea why the press are giving Psycho such a hard time about his role and the potential for him to succeed Capello.

Absolute bull****, gerrard is the obvious leader. I'd of even given it to joe hart before Parker.

Last 12 months means nothing. Playing at the highest level and motivating others is what is necessary to be a captain. Something Gerrard has been doing for years.

Apart from at the last World Cup ;)

I partly agree with both of you. I'd have preferred Gerrard to be captain, that's coming from a Man Utd supporter, but Parker is a great role model. He never gives up and leads by example, agreed Gerrard does the same. The captain role is pretty much overrated anyway, as long as both players play it's all good.

Thinking about it, it is actually quite laughable it has been given to Parker.

The guy has made only 10 senior appearances for England and doesn't even captain his club. Ledly king does if I'm right??

Compared with gerrards 89 senior appearances, has also captained his club for many years (including a champions league final).

I feel Stuart Pearce is way out of his depth, sooner Redknapp takes the position the better IMO. That is nothing to do with his captaincy decision. Just that he is unproven as a manager.

I think Parker was a good choice for this game. He does lead by example but he isn't going to raise players flagging heads by doing something a bit special to change the game. Experimentation is what was needed tonight as it was only a friendly as evidenced by picking the not so slim Lenny Henry to play in defence.

Didn't Gerald play in the defeat to AC?
