Warning lights on and no power steering?

Hi folks,
Just now on the way home, the power steering seemed to suddenly die, and i got two warning lights on the dash. The brake light and the charge warning light?

No problem with the oil pressure or boost pressure or temperature ...all normal, and the engine runs just fine.

As its dark out there now, and i can't see what it is, any ideas.

First thought here was a belt(s) has gone... ?

Anyway the car is booked into the Scooby clinic in the morning for a basic service, and a diagnostic run on the rolling road to make sure all is ok with it all as i have just bought the car, so now am bloody cheesed off..looks like i will have to miss that one.

so folks, any ideas what it could be?

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like now would be a good time to join the AA!

cheers
Keith

Thanks for that Mick, its appreciated.

It is the power steering belt that has gone. Shredded it.. but all the pulleys seem ok. the other belt is also damaged so needs changing now also.

Is the brake warning light coming on with this normal? Been away from imprezas for 6 years or so and forgotten most of the little i knew back then.

Its hell getting old... :-)

Thanks for any help folks.

Keith
