sigma programming different fobs

I have 2 fobs, one works and one doesnt, i have an early 2001 bugeye model which i think has the m30 sigma system, the fob that works has a broken keyring so i cant attatch it to my keys, the other fob i have is the single battery later version by the looks (it came with the car when i bought it and it doesnt work) i have tried programing the later fob with my key code but it wont work where as it will accept the broken early type fob with the 2 batterys everytime so i know im doing the procedure right and i still have the original subaru security operating manual which tells me step by step what to do with my key code written in it. I have changed the battery in the later fob so thats not the problem and it lights up when the button is pressed, so i was wondering if i have the wrong type fob for my sigma alarm system as i really dont want to keep the broken working fob in the car anymore :(

Apparently ac110 works too - they are thinner and stronger.

Got one on order to check :-)
