Miltek Vs. Japspeed

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me how the the Zapspeed exhausts measure up to the the Miltek ones in terms of sound for the blob STI UK.

They look to be more than equal on build quality but the Miltek I had on my last one made a nice noise without being booming or droning in the cabin unless you really nailed it.

I need to order a new zorst but dont know which one to go for?

Thanks

Chris

no comparison at all quality wise IMO, the Milltek simply fits and works..............

BlueBugEye 16 February 2012 08:13 AM

Milltek is not really comparable in any way to the JapSpeed - buy once buy right!

Miltek hands down.

It's like comparing a Subaru to a Kia, they are different beasts - Japspeed is cheap, shiny and noisy, Milltek is well made, sounds good and will almost certainly last longer.

It all depends on what you want. Do you want a loud exhaust that makes your ears bleed, something cheap and cheerful, something track friendly etc...

If you lets us know what you want from the system you can get some more relevant advice from people on here who've been through a system or 2 in their time:norty:

Miltek are expensive, that's for a reason. The quality is unrivalled in my opinion.

Had a 3" system on my classic for a while, only changed as I wanted a little more noise. Couldn't fault the Miltek in any way though, just wasn't quite loud enough for my "sunday only" car.

So I wanted a nice burble but nothing that sounds cheap and boomy.

I will be driving 100 miles every day and tracking the car so need it to be throaty but not loud and nasty.

I also want it to last so Milltek it is by the sounds of things.

Im in a very similar situation, and want to buy an exhaust, I was also considering the scorpion cat back but not sure how it sounds.. sorry for the high jack dude

i personally go for hardwood& Scott setup up. sounds great. on full boost has a real deep bark too it but off boost is real manageable. i have full scorpion system also a decent system but pretty quiet

JonMc 16 February 2012 09:34 AM

Milltek is a good choice for what you want, but also worth considering the Revolution system and also the Cobra 3" trackday system. All are well made and make a nice sound without being boomy. I suspect the Japspeed will be similar to the blitz and a lot of the other 'jap' style systems - it will be loud and so much so you may struggle with noise limits on some tracks and it will boom.

Al-UK300 16 February 2012 09:41 AM

Alot of folk seem to go 2.5 inch, are there any reasons not to go 3 inch cat back?

JonMc 16 February 2012 10:06 AM

You need to go as large as you can on a turbo car to release the back pressure unlike a NA car where you can loose power if you go too big. 2.5" is not a restriction below about 350-400bhp, but you need to be thinking about 3 or 3.5" if you're going beyond that. Otherwise 2.5" will generally be cheaper and slightly quieter.

Hi

The quality of a Milltek is excellent, we supply lots of these for Subaru and many other makes and models and the fit/finish is always spot on.
Our Revolution system is another which is well renowned for giving excellent power gains and not being too loud.
Scorpion is good quality but quite loud on Imprezas.
PM me for prices of any of the above.

Thanks

Keith

Miltek is better than japspeed etc but does not have the quality finish of Japanese exhausts IMO.

MarkC 16 February 2012 10:41 AM

I have the japspeed system, its louder than a blitz system imo, not really suitable for long distance driving, constant drone of it is annoying. They fit perfect, but quality of pipes is very tinny compared to more expensive systems so as said above miltek would be a good choice.
