Type R pulls harder higher up the revs.

Hiya guys.Ive just got a quick question about my v5 type R.
It has always run spot on.I usually keep the revs between 4 and 6000 when having a play.It still pulls ok up to 7000 but I've always felt 4 to 6 is its sweet spot.

It recently had a full service,an afterburner straight through centre and ninja 2 back box.
Everytime I have an oil change I take it easy for the first hundred miles or so just to be safe.
Now the last couple of days I've floored it through 2nd to 4th,my favourite gears.tonight I revved it to 7000 and it pulled much harder after 6000.

There's no hesitation at all,and it pulls just as good as normal,I'm just given a bit extra after 6000.
Is this just the exhaust making a difference.I didn't expect any extra power from just an exhaust swap.

I think I'm right in saying the type r has a 8000rpm rev limit so taking it to 7k is fine.

Have you a boost gauge in there? You might be getting some boost creep in the higher gears

Yes mate,I had a boost gauge fitted last week.
It boosts at 1.2 bar, then higher up the revs it drops to 1 bar.I have the boost alarm set to 1.25 bar and it doesn't ever reach it.
It's just puzzling me where this extra oomph has come from.
It's standard apart from the exhaust and panel filter.

hello mate, There is a ghost in the machine !! :lol1:

really though, it might be the exhaust thats making the difference. ive just put the standard sti one back on mine, was 3" straight through from turbo before. sure feels at the top end a little different, less pep ! :lol1: ive been taking it pretty gently, letting things settle in.

Cheers mate, yeah I'm quite surprised how well it's going.I sneaked out about 11 o clock last night for a play and it was great. The cold air probably did help.
Only thing now is I can see now how rubbish these tyres are in cold weather.Next winter I'll definately need some winter tyres.
