V3 STI Heads

Hello,
I'm looking at getting some STI V3 heads but wondered if there is a part number stamped on the case of the heads of anyway or visually checking that they are the right one's before buying?.
Also any idea what the current value of these heads with cam's would be around? These would be used on my early WRX CDB.
Thank you.

The under bucket shims are the give away, and there are markings on the camshafts as in the rings around them, but i don't know how to tell what they mean, presumably there will be some info somewhere, the v4 also have the shims but the wilder cams are supposed to be on the v3.

As for value, that depends on supply as always, anywhere between £200 and £350, but i'll be hanging on to mine for a while yet as they can only go up, and i might recommission the type r in a few years.:norty:

Hi i've got an excellent set of v3/v4 sti heads that i removed from my v4 sti due to bottom end failure. The sti heads come with under bucket shims which look like a 5p. The wrx heads just come with hydraulic lifters. So basically to tell they are genuine sti you unbolt one of the cams take one of the lifters out and inside there will be a shim that looks like a 5p and these are removable and not part of the lifter. I'm looking for £300 for my heads if your interested. Or £320 posted. I've also got a set of v3 sti heads that are in excellent order also £350 or £370 delivered

Mine (V1) are hydraulic. So the V3 standard WRX heads are also hydraulic and the one's taken from an actual STI are shim and bucket?. Are the wilder cam's marked up in anyway does anyoe know?
The prices on here are what i expected really.

yes thats right mate all uk and wrx are hydraulic where the sti's are shim and bucket.
the markings on the v3 cams are as follows:
drivers side:
inlet LB R4IN and 2 R4IN
exhaust LB R4EX and 4 R4EX
passenger side:
inlet KG L4IN and 4 L4IN
exhaust M4 L4EX and 3 L4EX

And the markings on the v4 cams are as follows:
drivers side:
inlet GE R4IN and 2 R4IN
exhaust G2 R4EX and 14 R4EX
passenger side:
inlet FH L4IN and 2 L4IN
exhaust GF L4EX and 4 L4EX

I haven't got a clue what difference the markings mean but no doubt some one on here will be able to tell us.
