Think it's dead.....
Well i think the scooby days are over after today.
A bloke driving a van pulled out of a junction today onto my lane from the left side whilst driving down a lane on the way to the gym. He pulled out as i was almost infront of him and swerved onto the otherside of the road. Result ended up in me going across the other lane onto the grass as it spun into a hedge hitting a post. nothing i ould do except hit the van side on and i didn't fancy that lol. The road conditions werent great with the snow a few days ago and i was driving about 35mph when he came out of the junction. He couldn't apoligise enough and admitted being at fault straight away. Details were exchanged and i managed to drive the car to a empty peoples home just down the road. Ive picked a curtisy car up and the car is being collected tomorrow sometime to see wether it's repairable or not. I'm awaiting for the insurance to contact me now, hopefully it's good news as it was clearly the other guys fault. The damage is to the front driver side as you can see in the pic's. The steering will hardly move and was a struggle to move it up the road as it won't turn right on full lock. The rear wheel has a huge chunk and a few scratches from the henge. https://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l...r/DSCF1217.jpg https://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l...r/DSCF1215.jpg https://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l...r/DSCF1218.jpg |

Update today, My insurance has wavered my excess as the guy admitted being at fault. Can't beleive how fast the insurance have sorted things and i'm waiting on an engineers report now for the car. Hopefully they will pay out decent and i can look for a new car.

Feel for you mate, Been there and done that after 5 years of mods on my last bugeye, lol, Hopefully the ins will give you a decent payout, If its cat c/d buy it back and strip it you should make enough to get the difference on an sti + ins settlement, Buy back cost is approx 21% of the claim if it is written off, So as an example if they give you £4.5k you gonna be looking at paying £950ish to get it back :thumb:
ouch :( hope it all gets sorted bud
Gutted for ya mate. Not good news. Looks quite bent to me from the pics. Not sure it going to be repaired. Hope the insurance sorts you out. Shame, nice car that!
as GAZ said buy it back and strip it , i had my bugeye crashed into i did well out of it buy getting paid for the damage and keeping my scoob , i then sold it on as a job lot ! ive got an my06 blob sti ppp now !! :):)
ouch!!
I reckon it'll polish out:wonder:
Buy it back and re-shell it, there's enough being broken on here and you could have it back on the road and still be in pocket if the settlement is fair:thumb: |
happened to me to fella least no injurys car can be replaced buy the car back off them like everyone says brought my bugeye sti back for less than a grand
Shame but sounds like it wasnt your fault and insurance also see's it that way which is a plus, atleast no-one was badly hurt ,feel for you mate hope it all gets sorted soon .
Doesn't look to bad tbho,I have repaired alot worse than that mate.
Deffo looks easy repair ..
feel for you man, hard luck. On the positive side, itl all be sorted before summer comes! ;)
Good luck getting it sorted. |
Thanks for the kind comments guys. I'm not sure what i'm going to do as of yet if the cars a write off. I could buy back and break but i haven't got anywhere to do it really and i'm not intrested in getting it repaired either.
car wise, agian i'm not sure. Obviously a sti would be an idel replacment but i'm also thinking of a jrsc ep3, 3mps, evo 5-6......cant decide but i really like the scoob and it suited my driving needs perfectly.
Insurance have wrote it off with 7.5k worth of damage!! The guy sounded a right cock and tryed telling me that it's isn't a std impreza and the wheels/spoiler/headlights/suspension and after market lol. Told him to check the uk300 spec as it's not a normal wrx ffs. He then mentioned the dumpvalve and said it could cause a problem with how much money i get paid out. WTF everything is std and never even entered my head about the dumpvalve that was already fitted!!

What insurer?

put a standard one back on, or remove it fully. he is wrong about the other stuff, so his word isnt worth jack. and remember you can get another report done on it, and dont take there 1st offer

hope you get it sorted soon and then you can get your new scoob :) |
Feel for you mate I hope it all gets sorted quickly.

The car has 7.5k worth of damage without any engine work that needs doing (engine oil is leaking) The rear suspension is shot, the front driver strut has snapped, and so has the steering arm snapped, forgot the rest he said lol.
I will just have to see what they offer me tomorrow, seen some between 4-6k If i get in the middle of that i will be happy. The condition of the car was near mint, no scratches/dents/marks on the paint work. Interior was spotless, subaru history with 5k intervals and tones of paper work to back everything up!!
