Wide track with dccd

Whst is this please? Read about it loads in threads but no explanation. Found a 55 sti blobeye for sale. Will it have the above? Sorry for the ignorance, wanting to upgrade the RB5. ;)

Dccd gives u control between front and rear wheel drive via a switch ... As for the wide track I'm unsure

The Pink Ninja 05 February 2012 06:02 PM

DCCD= Drivers Control Centre Diff

Your get the DCCD-A on the widetrack model which has an Auto setting, It basicly gives you the option or running more of the drive/power to the rear wheels

Wide track is just that......the STi rear track was wider. The Sti had little arch extensions and the PCD changed from 100 to 114.6.

DCCD as above :D

Wide track cars have a different shock setup, slightly wider track although not a huge amount, pcd is 5x114 rather than 5x100 like all the previous models. You can tell also as they have the lips on the rear arch.
Dccd is as described, was on the jdm cars but only appeared in the uk on the wr1 and the wide track sti's

chris84 05 February 2012 06:16 PM

i had a 55 uk with dccd and the wide track.

the wide track has a slightly bigger PCD, 5x114.3 against the standard 5x100. that refers to the distance between the stubs on the hub so the wheels, suspension etc are not interchangeable between the wide track and pre wide track blobeye.

that model will also have the newer hawkeye dash. i looked into a hawkeye and to me it looked like the late blobeye is basically a hawkeye with the better 2.0ltr engine and the blobeye shell. it was a really good car but needed loads of suspension work to make it anywhere near as good as the current P1 is with stock suspension.

widetrack blob has rear arch extensions and the facelifted interior.(centre console will be silver)

So all 55 plate sti's are wide track then?

Midlife...... 05 February 2012 07:23 PM

It depends on the MY, not when the car was registered.

Ok. So to find out, would be to look for the extended rear arches and the later silver centre console. Does it make a great difference between wide track and non wide track?

Rob Day 05 February 2012 07:32 PM

Shaun is right, not all Imprezas (all cars in general for the matter) are manufactured and registered straight away, so you may find a 55 plate without wide track, but you will also find 54 plate (2005) cars with wide track..... nothing is ever simple lol

My 54 plate wide track im breaking soon https://www.scoobynet.com/923136-bre...blobeye-2.html

Wide track looks soooo much better in my opinion, and im sure it would aid the handling.

As for centre console, not sure when this was implemented as the WR1 had the basic heater controls and non widetrack yet it had DCCD :lol1: Some of the late 2004 models didnt have the upgraded heater controls, yet some did.... There is no clear path to follow in my opinion.

Simply look for arch extensions, and the roller switch for DCCD in the centre console and ensure that the DCCD is actually fitted to the car as some folk upgrade the cosmetics yet its not actually a wide track DCCD :thumb:

its sits lower in the pic due to these

also had whiteline adjutable front and rear arbs and anti lift kit and cdf racing droplinks and front and rear strut braces

transformed the handling :thumb:

So what would be required to convert a 2002 Bug to Wide Track, given I want to swap my JDM 6 speed for a UK (preferably a Hawk) would this cover it:
Gearbox, rear diff, shafts, hubs (f & r) - I already have prop, linkage, cradle, cradle etc. I guess I'd also need rear brembos and new disks (114 pcd) plus wheels. WOuld my wishbones, shocks (BC's) and rear links etc. be compatible?

Depending on the full spec of the car I think you night be best to just sell the car and buy a Hawkeye unless you don't like the hawk that is. That wont be cheap to do.

Rob

Ps I'm breaking a Blobeye DCCD widetrack

BlueBugEye 06 February 2012 06:30 PM

Spec is fairly comprehensive! Plus respray(s) in the last two years. Do want to swap the JDM 6 speed for a UK one though!
