The New Simtek Range......

I've been doing some development work with Simtek owner and creator Steve Simpson on the all new Simtek range which is literally being finalised as we speak and they are incredibly well spec'd. I'm looking for both feedback on the specs as well as pre-orders for the new systems which should be in stock in 4-5weeks.

It's an amazing unit, which combines the drive-ability and starting of the old Simtek, with the complex features of more expensive systems like the Motec or Syvecs. It now has everything for everyone!

The software is now the most useable and customisable mapping system in the world! It's quite possibly the first ECU mapping software that works round you, rather than you working round it!!

Some of the key features now available to new Simtek owners over the old ones are:

Closed loop idle control.
Twin strategy knock control; auto-reinstate or key on/off reinstate.
Closed loop wideband lambda control.
6 x Fuel and ignition maps selectable with 8 different calibrations.
Nitrous control.
8 Injector control.
8MB Data-logging.
Closed loop EGT anti-lag control.
And lots more! (spec below)

The boards are all the same backbones, so for those of you that want to run AVCS on classics and WRXs you're able to with a bit of wiring and pin assignments.

There will be the Simtek Plus which won't encorporate the Wideband lambda control and 8MB data-logging and will be more cost effective and the Simtek Pro, which will have the works. Both ECUs will have the cost option to add the anti-lag and launch control and Plus versions can be upgraded to the Pro versions by your mapper with a small fee.

Prices are very competitive to the old Simtek range, starting from £1032 fitted and mapped.

That may have something to do with talk of issues with the old simtek..

bonesetter 01 February 2012 07:34 PM

Well, that's just really on is it? Who pulled the thread? Graham & Steve, or admin, or both?

**jay** 01 February 2012 07:47 PM

Looks like the only way im going to get knock correction is to buy a whole new unit :(

EngineMapper @ Group B Motorsport 01 February 2012 08:20 PM

Admin! I think, well at least when I went back to look at it this afternoon, I couldn't see it. So I reposted here. Nothing underhand I promise!!

So how does the pro system compare to a syvecs unit to the end user?

Whilst the sepc list makes interesting reading, to a common enduser it means jack ****! :D

They don't just delete threads unless it's requested  if it's commercially motivated then this one wouldn't be here ;)

Did someone say something unpopular about Simtek lol :lol1:

Seeing that this is a thread about the Simtek Range, can we have an update on what is available in terms of upgrades or some might argue patches for the old simtek. :)

Thankyou :)

EngineMapper @ Group B Motorsport 01 February 2012 08:48 PM

I've used both and prior to the Simtek Pro I would have gone Syvecs on a full on track car. The Syvecs isn't without it's problems and we've tried as hard as possbily to make the Simtek as user friendly as possible in terms of OEM style start, drive, idle with all the functions the Syvecs has and more. The beauty of the system is it's also very versatile, so can be configured very differently for each setup, with 101 different ways of skinning that cat!

In essence, I think it's comparable in features and better in practice in my opinion. Both Steve and myself have direct inputs into what features, functions, inputs and outputs the ECU has and it is expandable still yet.

It certainly wasn't requested by myself!

Come one Graham - That's not the detailed response I'm acustomed to from you! lol :)

My question was leading, because with what you have shown as the "features" list is hardly meaningful to a potential buyer (it means everything to you as a mapper). A potential buyer wants to know what this ECU does for him and almost certainly how that compares to what a Syvecs can do (as they are pretty closely priced it would appear).

I'm a monkey (as most other people reading this are) so at times you have to explain things to me in monkey language. :D

is this the right thread to reply in lol?

hours seem like days haha

excited is an understatement - (for the total car btw lol)

Don't hold your breath.:)

Just a quick spec update whilst I'm on for 5 mins.

The new SimTek will now have 2 x Full ECU calibrations. So 2 x everything in the spec list.

Graham

chris84 02 February 2012 09:56 PM

will there be more documented information about the new simtek ecu and any extra kit that's available? The information available about the customer programming kit and digital dash which are available for the existing simtek is pitiful and has always annoyed me. Things I would have considered purchasing if sufficient information was available.

EngineMapper @ Group B Motorsport 03 February 2012 08:26 PM

Yes, I will certainly be knocking up some information for my website, so will post that when I do.

jef 06 February 2012 11:19 PM

thats mine in and running hehe

just waiting to pick it up now, bloody work pushing the date further back, cmooooooon! lol
