Ecutek Autoblip?

heard the ecutek racerom software now has the option of autoblip,anybody used this? how can it work on a manual gearbox?

yeh i had it on my hawk sti to b honest at first i thought it was good feature but as time went on it became a bit of a pain it blips good when changeing down frm high revs can be a bit random at slower speeds though im running my new 2.3 in just now and i wont be having auto blip mapped on again

It works on the fly by wire ......

mines set to blip when braking and changing gear over 2k rpm, can be useful but in normal day driving conditions it dont make a huge diff

might be worth having it on a separate switchable map then?

is the system any good? or does it just get in the way of driving?

its fine tbh and costs nomore than a standard ecutek remap so why not, you will need drive by wire though which is 06 hawkeyes and onwards

Or just do it properly and learn to heel and toe. It's really to that hard.

think I'm going to skip it, just for the more money an ecutekf map costs, duncan wil map it with open source for 350,cant see the ecutek being worth 500+ ??

you can have it so you can switch it on and off.

the rpm and the amount of blip is configurable.. from memory I think there is 5 rpm indexes on the table so you could do 2000rpm and below 0 throttle, 2500rpm 20% throttle etc..
totally adjustable to what you want.
I tend to use a set of base settings I have come up with from driving and playing on each model ie. hawk wrx, hawk sti, hatch wrx and hatch sti I have them set slightly differently and then tailor to owner.. some owners tbh at mapping time dont really get it and wont until they have driven it for a couple of weeks so have readjusted where required.

The flat throttle shift is also fun, along with the launch control and being able to have two complete maps, also per gear boost control is handy.

No the amount of blip varys on rpm to try and match trans and egine speed.

You dont have to do a specific rpm change. I tend to turn it off below 2500rpm and sbove that it works. Barring very night rpm.

As with most ecu map tables it interpolates between the entries.

Going back some, there used to be the old Knicker Brook corner at Oulton Park. You just came down the long downhill straight before it, then turned in seriously going some. You had to change down cleanly and get on the gas before the corner, pushing like mad, or risk going straight into the solid bank dead opposite like so many others did. You had to blip the throttle to get the absolutely critical perfect shift. Taking that Adrenaline moment away and giving it to a gizmo, clever or not, would be like hopping off The Wife at the critical moment. OK if you're into that sort of thing, but not for me..

Only joking, the downshift blip is useful I agree in track situations on dog boxes but for road driving on a really good gearbox like on the hawks it is more gimmick, fun though all the same :)
