Tein s tech spring which ones!?
 

Hi guys,
Been offered a set but all the guy has said is they fit the newage. Which is fine but I was wondering are there certain ones for certain newage models.

Mine is a 2005 jdm STi. are all newage STi suspension the same and the springs fit even if they are from a uk spec STi or even a bug wrx?

anyone please?

Do you know about the negative handling issues these springs produce on a Scooby?

I owned a 2004 370/360 JDM and really can't imagine a more disastrous suspension change

What suspension is your JDM running now?

Mine is stock at the moment and honestly handles really well!

I did not want to go down the route of coilovers as I did not want a stupidly hard ride and every car i have been in with coilovers is awful but I still wanted to lower it as it sits far to high at the moment.

What would you recommend?

What are you going to be using your JDM for mainly - fast B-road hooning, or some track use?

Mainly b road hooning :) lol but plan to do a track day or two in it but nothing too serious.

For me, I've found a spring & damper combo one of the best solutions for the Impreza for fast road general hooning. The inverted 'red' monotubed STi dampers give good control on pitching b-roads & fast A's, are firm, and comfortable.

How much arb stiffening are you running?

Sorry, but I can't recommend a lowering spring for your JDM, perhaps someone else may come in. I would lower with some caution as it's easy to overlower. 1" is fine.

What sort of power does your car have?

Unfortunately, you're in a difficult position... first, the STi is very easy to over-lower. Other thing is there is very few aftermarket springs for the STi which work. For example the Eibach Pro springs over-lower, and are way too soft. Tein's as mentioned are totally useless as they lower the car into the bump stop and take away much of the damper travel. I see good reviews on the RCE springs but they are quite stiff. Depends as well on how much arb stiffening you have...

If it was me I would stick with what you have. The JDM is a great car :thumb:

Its really unfortunately that this American company Race Comp Engineering does not have distribution in the UK. IMHO, they make some of the most well thought out springs (and other parts) on the market. They have a variety of STi springs designed specifically around that damper and it peculiarities. I know they ship worldwide, so if you are willing to deal with buying outside of the UK, give these guys a ring.

Here are their Black "Regular Guy" springs. they also include shorter, stiffer replacement front bumpstops:
