Induction kit location
 

I've nearly finished my type r build and was wondering wether I could locate my RCM induction kit straight out towards the wing as it didn't want to fit in the usual location pointing towards the drivers shock turret?
I've taken a pic ( sorry not a good one ). Any feedback would good or bad would be great.

I have put one of these in the front bumper and have pipe work upto my filter:) Put them on both sides as i wanted it to be the same.
Just need prep and spray.

That's sound mate, I will be fitting a cold air pipe just wondering if the filter location will be ok

They would be better positioned on the front i would have thought. Not much air is going to get pushed up there. although looks good. I have a small grill on the front off mine with pipe behind it. you can just about see it in this picon the o/s fog cover

Yes the little lip on the scoop directs the air in. Will have todo some tests:)

Hi there your position is OK,on our one we are not running any cold air feed and we are still making 490bhp,maybe in summer will help,but now in winter i don't see any point

Thanks jura, I may get rid of the carbon canister to make a bit more room aswell.
Will the shorter intake tract be benificial and where would be the best place to get a universal silicone hose as i cut my original for trial fitting?

Running about 470 through a large KN and RCM trumpet in that position with a cold airfeed and it works fine :)

We are run before something like this,this has been something like trial fitting(Neil@Slowboy Racing abandon this solution due we are want solid intake pipe) ,here is picture of this:

But at the end we are went with solid intake pipe and silicone joiner like pictures above(Neil@Slowboy Racing create for us solid intake pipe)

whats do i need to do to remove the carbon canister as i do a search but most of the pictures have been removed?

Mine, on my 400/400 rebuild, lies where you showed in the first pic.

I'd be VERY interested in whether those "vents" actually force air into the under-bonnet, or suck it out:( due to the venturi effect of air passing over them at speed?

Anyone done any tests?

cheers jura, do you think the location in my pic will be ok with it being straighter as for some reason it doesnt seem to fit correctly pointing towards the shock turret with the fmic piping running through there?

Was there a reason why you located the filter in the straight ahead position?

I think you will be OK,if not you still can run something like cold air feed in summer if will be needed,in some cases bad designed cold air feed is more contra-productive than productive and can cause stall in traffic(like my friend new age bad designed cold air feed has cause this)

jura do you have any links to a good cold air feed? I will probably be going in through the n/s foglight cover

James if you have Morette you can run this via one,if not just have look here how it looks and sometimes really help,with cold air feed is something like trial and error

Via N/S Foglight will be good position


Are pros and cons of Cold air feed or cold air induction kits,cons are better intake temp,which can lead in better power(bhp),cons in my view is can lead to malfunction of MAF or damage of MAF if there will enter water in rainy season,must be altered map/tweak(better is fit in one go if you want go).

It was located there by my engine builder, who I would trust implicitly.
