Cam belt change on a year 2000 car?

I have just bought a W reg impreza turbo wagon with 115K on the clock and wandering when the next cam belt change will be since reading somwhere that it has to be changed every 60K?

Is that correct or just advertising for the garage and any idea how much a job like that costs?

hi mate
do you know how long(years)ago or mileage it was last done??
should be done every 40k to be safe
so if your wagon is on 115k it should be due at 120k
as for price you can pay anything from 180-300 quid depending if you need tensioners etc and where you go also

hope that helps

Thanks for that. I wondered on the price since Local Subaru garage where telling me 120K service and cam belt was going to be £1200. Now I see why not to go to main dealers.:cuckoo:

So at least I have 5k mile to save up for it then.:thumb:

Get it done sooner rather then later mate

£1200, **** that, the belts are easy to change, and a service same.

shame your in southampton, id av done it for you.

like to know a 120k service entails with subaru.

down load a manual and see if your confident.

As a guide I'm getting a 50k service tomorrow which includes cambelt for £365 all in. '56 Hawk WRX. More if I need tensioners.

I bet it would be more like £700 in a Subaru main dealer.

Last cambelt change I had done on my 00 uk wagon , cost me £32.00 for the cambelt from Grahame Goode & £70.00 to have it fitted. New tensioners are the only other thing you might need , but these are not to dear.

Thanks for the advice.
I have already bought the oil, filters & plugs so sounds like i may as well get it booked in to have 120K servive done early then know i wont have to worry about a 2nd bill 5K miles later.

Anyone ever heard of this place:
