Changing Cambelt

I have done a Subaru cambelt kit in the past on another Impreza. Cheapest I have found is £250 for a cambelt kit, waterpump delivered. Would anyone have any idea what a garage would charge to just fit it all if I supplied it?

I'll do it myself if it's too much money but you never know, may not charge too much and it'll be easier to watch someone else do it :D.

Labour works out between £30 - £50 an hour it would normally take 3 hours.

Might get the cambelt kit cheaper from http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/default.asp

My local garage reckons it`s only a couple of hours to do.

That's where I get my prices from :).

I think £80 / £100 for labour will be a good price, its a easy job out the car i've never done one in the bay tho. :)

a couple of hours to do a full kit + waterpump.last one i did took around 3+half hours.you could probably manage just the belt in a couple of hours.

Is it best to do the waterpump too or could I just get away with the kit? Trying to save a bit of money..

I'm really not sure if it can wait an extra year... belt looks fine, had a look this morning. Risk it or not for a chocolate biscuit?

That`s what the garage said....not sure if that included the pump.

A pump doesn`t cost much mate, get it all done together.

Doesn`t matter what it looks like really. Best to be safe :thumb:

Yeah, tomorrow I'll see what my local garage says about the cost of changing it, if its £100 might get them to do it, any more I'll do it myself.
