Snow foam- help ??
 

Guys just wonder if there is much difference between various brands off snow foam ie are some much more effective than others ?? reason I ask as whatever snow foam brand I use the car looks great till its dry then close up its still filthy !!

appreciatte the snowfoam process is meant to be a pre wash method before the two bucket method off washing but here so many folk say that they are happy enough with the results off the snowfoam wash as a quick midweek wash that I just wonder if I am doing something wrong ??

my usual method is fill the Autobrite container with about an inch off SF, top up with hot water and then spray the car dry with a thick blanket off foam, let it dwell for around five minutes and then rinse off, as I say looks fine when wet but as soon as it dries the sides off the car are still filthy , obviously snow foam itself was not enough to loosen this dirt .

using the Autobrite SF gun with the power washer , any advice ??

What snow foam are you using?

Autobrite super snow foam as well as a couple off other non brand types- Valeters pride I think its called ??

is it down to the snow foam used or am I asking too much off a snow foam only type wash ??

Does the car have a decent layer of wax on it? I think this helps dirt unstick from the surface

Okay thanks yep would say it does have a decent shine on it , as I say maybe just expecting too much for what is meant to be just a pre wash stage but just a bit dissapointed with the results especially with the thick blanket off snow foam itself looking as if it will remove everything but the paintwork !!

you do put the snow foam straight on the dry car yep ?? is there much between the different snow foams available on the market or do they all offer much the same effectivness ??

Yo.I use Megarius hyper wash(if i remember correctly) and i do it on dry car.It works more or less ok.I leave it there for 10-15min befor removing it.It will not make your car totaly clean but its much improvement already.

Idea of this metod is to remove bigger particles of dirst from your vehicle so you dont scratch surface later on with two bucket method.

I would say different products my have different thicknesses of foam it self but no one will clean your carr as you would with your hands:)

what Power washer are you using? obviously the more powerful it is the more dirt you will remove at the rinse down,
as mentioned earlier a polished shiny car doesnt mean you have any LSP(wax or sealant) on it,

I didnt use the AB super snow foam yesterday but a C120 and SD lance cleaned mine with over 3 weeks of crap on it without touching it with a wash mitt.

Okay cheers guys again appreciatte the info, power washer is an old woolies special - how old is that ??!! cost about £40 and apart from the two plastic wheels falling off and having two replace a small rubber seal on the hose it has never let me down in all those years, dad who normally uses a karcher used it yesterday and commented how decent the power was from it, incidentally his karcher has gave him a good few probs over the years which from what I have learned is not uncommon ??!!

would still ove to have a hot water supply to the washer !!

Supa snow foam isn't that great . Give Autobrite a call and get some Magifoam , its the best foam I have used and I have tried loads of different ones .

Chemical Guys - No Touch Snow foam is worth a try.

I usually jet wash the car (mid power setting) to remove the bulk of the mud then use Megs Hyperwash (3 pumps) and Gold Class (1 pump) in the foam lance (Polished Bliss). Then Foam, Dwell (5-10 mins), Rinse and repeat (I get two lots of foam from one bottle). My final rinse is always open hose so te water sheets off the car as I never towel dry after just a foam (Although I do use the Black Baron!).

An inch of AB's super snow foam, a squirt of Chemical Guys Maxi Suds then foam the car. Use a detailing brush in all the awkward areas around badges etc then rinse with the pw.
At this point its clean enough for a winter wash assuming you're using a decent pw.

Most people who complain that dirt is not being removed after a foaming session blame the foam. But I believe its mainly the pressure washer. Plus not letting the foam dwell for long enough.

Forgot to say I top the bottle up with warm water after the Maxi Suds.

Chemical Guys, ValetPro or my favourite Juicy Detailing are the only ones I use. About 1.5" in the bottle, top up with warm water, shake well, then put on the lance and start spraying. Even then I would still not really expect it to be good enough to not do a mitt wash afterwards, even with a good seal on the car beforehand

I only ever use pH neutral, some of the other snow foams (tfr's) are caustic and can damage chrome/plastic/rubber trim.

Ask Audi/BMW owners how bad it gets. (as well as other cars)

So I just don't take the risk.

For me its:

ValetPro, Espuma, Bilt-Hamber snow foams.
