ECU swap

Hello,

If I can get my hands on a cheap ECU (Z4 same as my current) would it be ok to do a straight swap to see if it eliminates a problem? My current ECU is ESL mapped tho.*

There are a list of mods on the car inc. FMIC, bigger injectors, ind kit, full exhaust, decat downpipe etc,*

Some pics of the ECU, is that split normal? Doesn't look like it.

that is normal mate you cut that resistor to eliminate the standard map

as said the j5 resistor gets cut so it uses the map on the board. that part is normal bud. it prob wont run as good with a standard z4 as it wont be mapped for the mods.

yes that split is there to run the map off the esl. if you connect it, it will run the standard z4 ecu map.

whats the problem? try connecting the j1 resistor and see if it cures it. if it does then its the map on the esl board or the esl board itself. i heard the esl can suffer from heat.

Thank you.

BUT... will I risk any damage in doing so?

Regards.
