Aircon load on engine question.
Hi, as it is winter, i was contemplating removing the aircon belt to reduce load on the engine. Im not an aircon fan anyway. Does the the compressor have a free wheeling clutch when the aircon is off ? Is there still load on the engine to turn the pulley round even when it is turned off ?

No need to remove the belt as the aircon has an electric clutch, so if turned off it is disengaged. One thing though once a month give the aircon a good 20 minute run to keep the oil circulating so the seals don't perish. Mine did this as was not using the aircon in the North of scotland and all the gas departed, got it tested and refilled and the same happened.
