Feeling the need for a hot hatch...
Lift off oversteer, chuckability, lightweight... etc all at lower than normal scooby light speed
Was thinking 106 pug, or even Clio Had a 206 GTi a while back but that dropping apart. Was good fun though What's the pick of the bunch? |
clio cup
|
Have been thinking the same myself.
Tried looking for a mint 106GTI (had one before) but all the ones I've seen are chavved up. Far better fun car's than the Clio. Chopped my 106 in for a 172. Worsed mistake in my car life. I've been looking at new cars too. Have a few choices:- Audi S1 Quattro (Could have 220bhp) Renault Clio Williams (Could have 240bhp) VW Polo R - (Could have 201BHP) None have been confirmed yet, but all should be pretty nippy. |

I'm after something for slow speed fun |

I own a Type R. I'm after something for slow speed fun |
yes sorry. civic.
|
Mk2 Golf GTi 16V :thumb:
I'm biased though :D |
Old school Mini :)
|
Supercharged 106
A mate supercharged his old 106 Rallye, mental wee car |
I've got a T-sport yaris 107 bhp and it handles like it's on rails!
|
Funnily enough I'm hankering after another mk2 golf gti! Had so many & used to break them for a living.
Good fun, bullet proof & fairly economical |
another +1 for Civic Type R :)
|
Peugeot 205 GTi, either 'tweeked' 1.9 8v or a Mi16/GTi-6 converted 16v.
OOBER fun and proper old school respect :D |
ok i know you sad hot hatch, but low speed fun does not get better than a mx5 or an mr2.
But for me if i could find a decent one, it would have to be a mk2 xr2 i had a few of them and they are great i love em. |
Robin Reliant? They`re slow and sort of a hatch :lol1: :D

Lupo GTi, if you can find one.
|
A cammed mapped renault clio 1.8 16v, same shape as the williams but revs alot higher, my old one used to rev 8500 and easily stick with my old corrado vr6
|
My other half has a Yaris SR (1.8, 131bhp ) at the mo, it's not the fastest thing on the road but it handles extremely well, very good fun :)
But I still have a soft spot for the pug 205 1.9 GTI :luvlove: |
106 rallye will be slow (1.4 engine?) albeit seem to have a good rep ... can pick them up for £1-2k ish. Probably mega miles though due to age ...

At present im looking for a 172 cup.....then its time to strip, cage and abuse...:thumb:
Hopefully it will be cheaper to tracking a scoob....i hope..:lol1: |
I know a lot of people rate the rallye, but having never been in one so cant really comment.
For me I'd be back in a Mk1 Yaris in an instant! And if you want more power the 4e-fte out of a Starlet drops in pretty easy ;) |
Clio 172/182. Nippy, quick, cheap and plenty of tuning mods.
|
Old Golf GTI or Civic Type R.
A lot of fun and reliable too... whereas a Clio is just a lot of fun! |
Vauxhall nova gsi with a 2ltr 16v redtop lump in, running 180 bhp. One of my fav cars to own. So so quick, mental. Striped out with roll cage. Loved it.

How about the Mazda 3 MPS?
|
I have never driven a 172 or 182 but I would like to know who from someone who has driven both if they can compare handling wise to a 106 gti or rallye. I can honestly say that having driven a few, the two cars that stand out as amazing to drive are the lotus elise and the 106. Compared to these two 911's and ferrari 360's are boring.
