Who uses steering locks and what do you use?

I'm still using a disc-lock i used on my last scoob five years ago! It completely covers the wheel and seems to work well but storage is a pain in the arse behind the passenger seat :( Anyone use anything a bit easier to store and fit??

I use a stoplock at the moment on my hawk.

I got it until i tracked down a DiPol gearbox lock (getting that fitted as we speak). I got used to the gearbox lock as my blob had one when i bought it. Thats one of the old lock it in neutral type, the Dipol locks the car in reverse making it harder to take. Not expensive, easy to fit and use and storage isn't a problem.

I got a similar one, covers the bottom of the wheel. Doesn`t take up too much room (hardly ever use it tbh).

Yeh it's just a pain in the arse folding it in half and slotting it back into it's carry case behind the passenger seat.. I've chipped the armrest lid too which I'm miffed about.. If anything I just want somethin that's a visible deterrant so that Halfords stop-lock might be a good idea.. I could just drop it behind my seat :) Does not everyone fit steering locks then?

I was looking at the DiPol gearbox lock as well few months back but no insurance company approves them so no point.

Yeh they do lol I should've really specified steering wheel lock in thread.. I'm pretty sure factory fitted steering locks can be freed up by two determined chavs pulling the fook out of it!

clifford 5.5 avantguard and a full steering wheel disklok

RICHARD J 05 January 2012 10:24 PM

Disklok is a pain, but it's a great visual deterrent & car thievs hate it. Combined with a good alarm/immobiliser is about as secure as you can be. If there is an easier target they will go for that & if they are determined to take your car they will just take it no matter what.

Chrome Disklock - a pain but worth the piece of mind.

t16mbo 24 February 2012 01:01 PM

I use a disklok. Bak in the day new some naughty ppl who bet they cld get it off within minutes. And they coudnt so have always stuck with it. They did buy me a new one tho as they obviously damaged it

martin850 24 February 2012 01:17 PM

Disclok here as well :thumb:

scooby595 24 February 2012 08:20 PM

Disk lock here too. Have only ever heard of one car being nicked whilst wearing one of these.

Turned out they had a set of keys for the car!!!

B4D HK 25 February 2012 10:36 AM

Disclok saved me evo a few years back. Cat1 alarm was ripped out and car was started! Worth the extra £20-£30 quid IMHO compared to a cheaper alternative :)

dazh71 25 February 2012 12:43 PM

disc lock for me to :thumb:

madscoob 25 February 2012 05:47 PM

disclock can't beat it. i was told by a profesional locksmith ,who got in wifes fiesta in less than 15seconds (55plate) disclock is the be all and end off , there is no way of removing that without making lots of noise(cordless angle grinder) 15million combinations on lock so not much chance of another key working :thumb:

Nelly71 25 February 2012 07:12 PM

I've a snap off wheel kit but can only be used with after market wheel ie no air bag

Can anyone translate this?

scooby595 25 February 2012 09:04 PM

His mates reckoned they could get his disk lock off in minutes, they couldn't, he won the bet and they bought him a new disc lock ????

t16mbo 25 February 2012 09:08 PM

Yes Scooby595 that's it. Sorry if people could not understand.
