Running issues at high RPM

HELP HELP HELP Right guys I need your help, I have a sti scoobie, It aparently has had lots of work done previously and was running 290 bhp with a rolling road printout, I used the car alot and was pulling very well all the way upto 7000 rpm and went well, Recently we replaced the standard manifolds for race manifolds and placed a race paddle clutch within the car. (still running standard ecu)

Ok so the car was running perfectly when on the way home one day I gace it abit of a hard time, and in high rpm it stuttered and now has not run right since, i mean i am loosing ****e loads of power mainly between 6000 and 7000 rpm and it hesitates and misses at these revs, I have changed the fuel filter, cleaned the mass air filter, I have changed the fuel pump and reset the ecu, and still its breaking down at high boost, I have checked for boost leaks and cant seem to find one !! Please help as my good fun fast scoobie is becoming a slow tractor with Issues and now is not fun to drive!

I know alot of you are going to think well dont drive it like a **** but we all own subaru's for the same reason right !!

Thanks in advance for your help :)

update, It would appear it bogs down alittle more then usual from cold and starts to run better when warmed up but still misses in the high RPM.

Hi mate, we need to know a bit more about the car, IE model, year, modifications, fuel used, who remapped it etc etc

scoobie no nothing! 31 December 2011 11:05 AM

I dont know if it has been remapped I dont know its a wrx but according to fusion motorsport its a sti on chasis check, Its on a N plate, as to the tuning i know it went to surrey rolling road but I dont know about anything else, as we bought the car with the tuning modifiactions already in place, I do know it runs 1.2 bar boost and I dont know if the ecu has been tampered with either, according to previosu owner it had head work done , i think he said gas flowed but i really dont know ! also it doesnt have a red intake manifold as pointed out by chrlie at surrey rolling road, hope this helps

I always use high octiane fuel either tesco 99 or shell optimax,

scoobie no nothing! 31 December 2011 11:08 AM

It has a Standard tdo5 turbo fitted, race manifolds decat downpipe, walbro fuel filter cone air filter and i have a boost gauge fitted. straight through exhaust fron to back

jd5217 31 December 2011 11:12 AM

decat and new manifold without a change to the map?

best bet is to take it to a specialist.

scoobie no nothing! 31 December 2011 11:14 AM

No the decat was already there before i bought the car, I have put on the race manifolds and new race paddle clutch then after about 200 miles the problem has occured!
;-)

jd5217 31 December 2011 11:19 AM

i wonder if the fuel pump is failing?

The Pink Ninja 31 December 2011 11:26 AM

Was the lambda sensor but back into the headers when they were changed ?

scoobie no nothing! 31 December 2011 11:29 AM

there were no lamba sensors on the old exhaust system i think they have already been bypasses! as they were not there

scoobie no nothing! 31 December 2011 11:30 AM

I have put on a new fuel pump already ! tried that !! and changed the fuel filter too ! getting on my wick running out of ideas! lol

Put your standard manifold back on, reset the ecu and if it runs as it should then your issue is with the parts you added (after which the car started to run badly), no doubt they reset your ecu, its simple really, you need the car mapping.

Tony:)

I waish it were that easy! but the original manifolds and up pipe are long gone into scrap heaven!, i may have to look for another original, do you guys know a good tuner in the south to have a look at the car ? obviously the best thing i can do is get a power fc so maybe one of you has an power fc i can buy to rectify my car ??
I will keep you all regularly updated, do you think that coil packs could cause all of this issues? thanks for all your help so far and if anyone has a spare fc the want to see for it let me know 07931 806753 ta

im kent way, near maidstone area, that would be alittle far, also any help on tuning with the ecu specialists would be fab,

robertjolene 31 December 2011 02:48 PM

its a coil pack there notorious for it take them out and pull the rubber end off it and it will have a crack on the plastic end that will sort the problem mate

scoobie no nothing! 31 December 2011 06:06 PM

what just pull the rubber off or replace the coil pack??
cheers
steve

Turbotits 31 December 2011 06:19 PM

simon at jollygreenmonster.co.uk is the man to speak to if your in Maidstone

robertjolene 31 December 2011 07:16 PM

no just pull the rubber off to see which one has a crack even a hairline crack makes it run like that if it has a crack then totally replace it mate you can get them on e bay for about 20 pound
