early classic lambda vs late classic lambda

I've got a 1996 sti and the lambda that should be in the headers has failed. The lambda is currently in the downpipe because my new headers do not have a boss to put a lambda in there and I was told it's better in the downpipe.

Can I fit a lambda from a later classic to my early one by simply extending the wiring and using the loom from my failed unit as long as I solder the wires up correctly?

Thanks,

Paul :)

From my point of view yes will fit from late classic, just must have 3 wires not 4 wires(4 wires have new age lambda sensor Denso usually)..On your Bosch is direct replacement and much cheaper than New age

That's correct both have 3 wires so as long as I connect the correct whites together and the black and it functions the same way I should be alright in theory. I guess the only way to know for sure is to do it and see what the sensor readings are on the hand controller.

Thanks :)
