That doesn't sound overly aggressive compared to some of the set ups I've seen. Is there a reason for that?

Car is over 500hp if that makes any difference?

Thanks for the advice. I advice i appreciate it

By running more static negative camber, you're reducing the tyre contact patch, in a straight line.

Spot on

It's a lot to get your head round to begin with.

What would you recommend for sprints and fast road after this then?

Front :
Start at Neg 2 deg 30mins camber = neg 2.50 deg camber - reduce, if excessive tyre wear.
Use the front and rear tyre pressures and the smallest bars possible, to get the balance you like.
If your bars aren't giving you quite the balance you want, then:
0.04mins = 0.07deg Toe-in per side, sharper turn-in - might induce mid-corner understeer
0.04mins = 0.07deg Toe-out per side, if car too responsive or twitchy. Turn-in less sharp. Gives throttle controlled oversteer.

Leave the rear as is.

Well i tried to set my rear toe to toe in as it was toe out quite a bit which wasnt great, not knowing how each notch on the adjuster bolt was measured i went on the 4th notch and went for a free alignment check, my rear toe in is now currently at 40 minutes. im guessing that will eat my rear tyres in no time ?

Cheers

If you don't crash first :)

Yeah I hear you , will redo it onto the 1st notch as I'm guessing each notch is around 10 minutes of adjustment on the standard bolt / washer . Is it worth having slight toe in over 0 for a daily driver ?

When you were having you free check, couldn't you have had it tweaked then?

Yes, a little toe in for DD

The Rig 28 January 2019 07:23 PM

Ok thanks

yeah I could of had it tweaked but at £30 for the tweak of the bolt I thought I will have a go myself for now until after payday

currently the front is all ok but I'm assuming if I remove 30 minutes of toe in this will throw the fronts out and I will need front tracking doing again ?

You need to find a more friendly alignment shop :)

If it's 30 all-in with the VAT then acceptable I guess to get things all spot on?

The Rig 28 January 2019 07:35 PM

Well it was £29.95 for adjustment of front or rear but then if Rear needed it was then £47 , I thought if they adjusted just rear it would throw out the front which would warrant the £47 not £29.95 for just a rear alignment ?!?!

Either wsy way I was looking at £30 or nearly £50 lol

2pot 28 January 2019 08:30 PM

Having seen your, briefly, posted alignment - your front and rear camber is in desperate need of adjustment as well

The Rig 29 January 2019 02:11 PM

Hi 2pot
I agree my rear Camber is slightly off but my fronts are at their maximum setting

see below for current settings

The Rig 29 January 2019 02:12 PM

cuprajake 29 January 2019 02:30 PM

there camber adjustable at the back aint they?

The Rig 29 January 2019 02:35 PM

They are , same as front via the shock to hub bolts

2pot 29 January 2019 02:44 PM

They're not adjustable at the rear, unless using aftermarket camber bolts. Front has camber bolts as oem.
But, there is play in the rear strut, lower, bolt holes when you slack off the 2 lower bolts, each side.
Your only 36mins apart at the rear - with pushing and prying, you could even that camber out.

The Rig 29 January 2019 02:49 PM

Yeah mine seems to have the same oem lower shock bolts as the front

I initially only had a front setup done hence the rear not being equal , if I now wanted the rears doing I would have to pay the whole amount again to have it all done

I'm happy with how it is , my rear toe could be a smudge less I was aiming for positive 15 so not bad via guesstimate to get 24 I'm hoping it won't wear rear tires much more if any than if it were at positive 15 ?

cheers

Forgive me if this is obvious, but it's late & I am done in: If I am reading the below quote correctly is flipping that alignment bolt a free anti-lift kit?

*When I say "free anti-lift kit" I mean will I get the same (or a similar amount of) caster for fcukall £'s :)

Cheers :thumb:

I have finally got all the suspension work done on my '03 WRX . Have Pedders on now. I live in Hull. Best nearest place to get geometry set up done? Are Kwik Fit fairish?? Last time I had it done was at Litchfield. Don't really want to travel that far again.

Below is a fast road geo print out for a classic. The set-up works very well. There is a fair amount of toe-in (front & rear) which can feel slightly disconnected at slowish straight ahead driving, but comes alive when pushing on and is what I use on my classics.

Note the amount of castor which is a fair bit for a classic (you want as much as possible). This was achieved with an ALK. If your Impreza is a New Age you will have this amount of castor anyway (see Arnie's tips for getting more castor below)

Note: Toe settings and measurements for both below are toe-IN

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5...2520struts.jpg

Here is a New Age print out with more castor. The camber is a little excessive and perhaps one and three quarter degrees may be better, but toe-in is the same

I've just ordered some Tein Flex X and want a local garage to fit them to my 05 widetrack hawk. Should I take the newage layout with me but write over the -2.12 camber and request the 1.75 camber instead. I rarely use the car for fast road and never track it.

What do you actually do with it then? :wonder:

I transport my kids around. Go fishing and have roundabouts every 800 yards

Holy thread resurrection :notworthy

Yes, spot on. It's certainly a good starting point. If you've gone to the faff of where you are now, you're keen, and if it were me I would like to try variations on the settings, but that's me.

You certainly won't go far wrong with those settings though. Let us know how you get on :thumb:

It is.

Hassen27 02 November 2021 11:32 PM

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who posted their experiences and settings. It has given me a good starting point for my own setup on the not so much a Wrx Blob wagon.

Current setup:
Meister R Zeta Crd+ coilovers with front camber plates
Superpro Alk
Superpro car fully polybushed
Whiteline front and rear arb
Whiteline rear adjustable control arms - front and rear
Eibach rear camber bolts
Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres (17x8) 225 45 R17

Car is daily driven with the weekend hoons up the Wicklow mountains. Going to be at the first track day with this new setup after 2 years at the end of November. Any suggestions would be well appreciated :)

Ginola 17 November 2021 12:42 PM

Brown trousers on the day? :)

Hassen27 17 November 2021 12:55 PM

Hahaha. I actually thought about a second set of clothes...just in case :P

Been to that track a few times. Previous setup was 330bhp and currently running 470bhp with better brakes and direct port water meth injection etc on a nearly stock block. So, definitely will be taking it easy initially to get used to it :)
