Hi Folks,

Any of you fellow IT people out there using Scoobies to haul kit round the countryside?

I'm debating a 4 or 5dr. Any know what sort of servers you can fit in the back of a 5dr? I guess the 4dr is pretty useless at transporting stuff?

We quite often delivery Compaq ProLiant 1600 / 3000 & IBM Netfinity 5500 / 7000 and similar sized beasties.

Cheers,

Chris.

PS. If know anything about Sequent servers (SE-20/30/40/50) and disk/RAID cabinets, then drop me a mail.

Chris,
I have a 4 door and it has a 60/40 split fold rear seat. It's surprising what you can fit in it.

The only problem might be the boot aperture (if that makes sense).

You can always load really tall items through the back doors.

I don't know how big the specific servers are you mentioned but one I do know (an HP server) would fit fairly easily.

There is a quite high bootlip- don't know if the 5 door has such a high one.

I'd pop down yer dealer and have a shufty.

Cheers

Chris,

I took three Siemens towers, three 17" monitors and all supporting bits and pieces for installation down to the motor show last october. It's amazing what you can get in a 4 door!!

i got a 4 door so i wouldnt have to lump kit around in it for work.

the 5 door would be much better, as the size of server you can get in the boot is quite limited on the 4 door.

what raid boxes are you talking about, i use clarrion disk arrays at work, HP and DG use these.

Hi Chris,

When I spoke to you in the pub last night http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif. I forget to mention that holdcrofts newscastle have a 5dr turbo in might be worth having a look at the load space. I think they have a 4dr as well like the guy before said maybe worth a shuftey.

cheers

chrisp
