Tesco Momentum 99 or V-Power
Hi Guys
Just wandering if there is any real differences in running the 2 above? Is there a big diffence or they the same? Will the telco cause any damage or performance related problems? I have a blob eye 06 STI standard. Thanks. neil |
Both 99ron so will cause no damage. I use both and have never noticed a difference to be honest.
My bet is shell is a better fuel because of the additives but its also more expensive. |
Both good fuels mate.should have no probs.Just suck it and see as some cars prefer different fuels,my 05 blob runs well on both, but i used to have a uk classic that hated v power?would only run well on esso super.random i know but true i tells yer:wonder:

I've been told that momentum99 has better knock detection but I really couldn't say for sure if thats true.
Personally I always use Vpower, and don't see the benefits in 1-2p a litre saving on using fuel made for a supermarket! |
Tesco fuel noticed less pickup, only run on shell.
|
glad someone has asked this, as i live 2 mins from tesco, but have to always drive 6-mile round trip to fill up on v-power, so am going to try my car on tesco momentum now and see how it goes
|
I use both depending on which is most convenient when I need a top-up, not noticed any difference between the 2 TBH.
|
Thanks guys
JayGSI sorry if this sound stupid what do you mean by less pick up? |
What fuel should I be putting in my 1997 wrx sti unleaded or super unleaded or vpower

Used both never noticed any difference. just that tesco is 3p less and you save about £2 on a complete tank fill up.
|
Cool been putting vpower in it since iv owned it but dnt know about the owner before me

We run ours on v power. Tried telcos and it seemed to run even smoother if anything .... But then the stuff is rarely available from our local so I don't bother as I can't rely on getting any. We now use v power exclusively, the car (sti v3) loves the stuff :) Mikey |

I use both. I have 2 shell garages and a tesco within 3 miles of my house..
|
v power is the fuel I use. I noticed a slight difference with supermarket fuel the quality just doesn't seem to be there.
|
Apparently they`re the same fuel. The only difference is V Power has additives.
|
have used tesco in my current import and my last uk car and never had any probs, have run spot on when on rollers etc.the difference in price where i live is 10p a litre more for v-power and i live 750 metres from tesco so easy choice really.
|
lol the tesco that sells their petrol is so far away but not sure on the price. The shell is just down the road but v power ain't cheap.
|
when i run the wifes scoobs on tescos it feels as if it holds back more then on V power so i always head off a little further for v power if i know the car will be driven enthusiastically otherwise usual day to day its run on tescos

Used tesco super for the last 8 years in my classic turbo
No problems and 250 per tank every time |
have both close to me so i use either, but i seem to get better mpg with momentum.
|
I use either as there both close to me. On pure petrol i find very little difference. Odd to say but when i mix with meth i find i get a better response with the tesco stuff
|
Data sheets for both.
Me I use Tesco99 as its 7ppl cheaper. Shell.. http://www.formulastudent.com/Librar...MSDS.sflb.ashx Tesco. http://www.tesco.com/Momentum99/prod...fits-specs.asp

You’ll find information about Momentum 99, including the product specification, on the Tesco website - http://www.tesco.com/Momentum99/prod...fits-specs.asp. Key points are obviously RON, but also MON and ethanol content (renewable, helps the combustion process). Re your question about whether our 99 octane fuel is “95 Ron + additives”, the answer is a definite no. Our 99 octane petrol is blended separately from 95 octane fuel, using raw materials that have been specifically chosen to meet the higher product specification. Of course, the additive package is different too. Hope this answers your question. i use momentum and v power, shell is closer (3 miles away) than tesco (6 miles away, but 10p cheaper)
i have never had a problem with either, but i have spoken to a couple of tuners/mappers. and they say tesco fuel suffers from 'random det'. i have seen this on a few occasions on the rollers too. 2 different mappers even knew it was tesco in the tank cos of it. tesco has come out best in a couple of independant tests, but if mappers say you get random det and i've seen it proved. |
thats true dave as it was my car on the rollers that was detting due to the fuel, both guys said momentum was known as random det so i try to keep to v power,.
|
If your car has been mapped on V-Power then it will run a tad better on that than Tesco etc.
