Side door mouldings
I saw a sti like mine recently and it had black mouldings halfway up the door to prevent door dings, and at the front of the front door ones it said STI on them. You know where i mean, in the crease half way up the doors!
Does anyone know where i can get these as where i live it seems to be a hobby to ding peoples doors in Tesco car park! Also can anyone recommend a good garage in Ayrshire , preferably near Irvine with experience of Subarus? Cheers |
from what you've described, surely that will only really work for you opening your doors to stop dinging into theirs?
you're probably looking for something that goes along the length of the doors horizontally to stop other people hitting your car when opening their doors? |
I was meaning the horizontal crease i the door ! Its like a body moulding
|
ah yes i know what you mean now, got confused when i saw "halfway up the door" you mean one of these things on the door: http://www.cheapcarinsuranceforyoung...eugeot-206.jpg, right? (yes ignore the fact its a pug 206 pic!)

Subaru UK used to do one for the Classic..........

might have to call my dealer to see if they can get that part in (perfect as i have a classic), next question would be colour code or not in the rb5's 86F..
|
The were similar to that but a bit more rounded and had sti at the front
|
I had the genuine Subaru part which cost around £50 five years ago. I don,t think that it did a lot for the cars looks, but it kept my Classic dent free. :thumb: Steve.

i have em on mine, fitted from new as a dealer accesory, looks naff imo, but does save car park twats oopps sorry dings....was thinking of having em removed
|

The one i saw was similar to this but in black

They are held on with double sided foam tape, best way I found when in the body shop was masking tape either side to protect the paint, hair drier or carefully used heat gun and get plenty of heat into the moulding. Then use a filler spreader to carefully get behind it and slowly remove - don't be tempted to pull the moulding off once you get the edge free as this can mishape it, just keep using heat and the spreader. You could possibly use plastic coated electrical wire instead. Then use panel wipe to remove the remaining adhesive tape from the door;)

I reckon these are what you are after............

Side Protector Mouldings Sti Add a finishing touch , and protect your Subaru Impreza STI with these sleek black side protector moulding sold as a set of 4 Part No. SACC1229 £ 55.00 (inc. VAT, exc. Fitting - unless otherwise stated) I have some fitted to my 2005 Impreza & one of them could do with replacing... OR ... should I just remove the lot? |
The car looks better without them. I had some on my Classic and they did the job very well. I,ve just ordered some for my Blob so I think that answers your question. Steve.:thumb:
