Nice one, you must be really pleased.

What the spec of the car?

initialD 21 December 2011 09:52 PM

550s
walbro
sti tmic
full decat +up pipe
roger clarke induction
vf34 turbo
modified oil pump
sti v7 pistons+rods
acl bearings

ditchmyster 21 December 2011 11:13 PM

Bloody hell, what did the mapper say?? and who was it?

Do they think it's the induction kit, i'm sure the cold weather helps a lot, some propper numbers of a vf34 finally..

initialD 21 December 2011 11:19 PM

not much really lol ! just said it goes well :D and david said good figures on a good day

jura11 21 December 2011 11:57 PM

Great result matey, really nice results, similar to mine but with FMIC and not the best induction kit

Out of interest what was the boost set at to achieve the figures?

L&G.scooby 22 December 2011 07:39 AM

Very nice figers :D

averyp2 22 December 2011 08:57 AM

Good effort that

merlin24 22 December 2011 08:40 PM

Looks like Pat worked his magic on that one :thumb:

well ive been told the dyno needs inspecting as the figures are a little over the top :wonder: so not sure what power its making exactly ? anyway it drives nice and smooth but doesnt seem as savage as i was expecting if im honest :( i mean on paper im thrilled with the results but in terms of how the power is delivered a tad dissapointed if im honest , but to be fair i think i may of been expecting too much from it . its lovely to drive and very responsive and thats all that matters really

joz8968 22 December 2011 11:26 PM

Yeah but aren't you currently running around with a broken exhaust?! That won't help torque/peak power...

Plus your Bug's at least 1360kg isn't it? (Compared to the heaviest of the Classics @ 1270kg).

Kezzo80 22 December 2011 11:28 PM

I've always been told dastek make more over DD but still good results. It's how it drives on the road that counts

Kezzo80 22 December 2011 11:31 PM

Wavvy line?
Diff might be protesting :-)

initialD 22 December 2011 11:41 PM

yea mid range seems to be its strong point ? thing is i dont really have a heavy foot as im scared of breaking gearbox lol so that has alot to do with it :D

and ive had the exhaust welded now

MattyB1983 23 December 2011 12:09 AM

360 did seem a bit high on a 34 to be honest buddy.

I've given up quoting power figures for my car, RR's seem to vary so much I think it's pointless quoting a figure unless you have your car dynoed at a few places and then take an average.
The most important thing is ARE YOU HAPPY.... Forget what power the paper says as all that's good for is boasting in the pub. If the car performs well and your happy then that's all that matters.

Glad the mapping all went well after your moment of madness by the way, you won't be doing that again in the future I bet, lol.

Just a little OTT mate in my opinion BUT......

THATS WHAT COUNTS :thumb:
Numbers on paper dont mean anything, the way it drives on the road says it all :)

initialD 23 December 2011 12:28 AM

well now its all fine and its survived i can honestly say i didnt thrash it as bad as some might think ? it really was that one time . but yeah i literally had to walk away and plug my ears when it was being mapped :lol1: they put it through its paces dont they !! poor thing .
im happy at the moment , but thinking of getting a lighter car next already ! i need to accelarate as fast as i can , dont know why ? but its so addictive :D top speed doesnt interest me .

JonMc 23 December 2011 08:42 AM

Some great figures, might have to go for a VF series turbo rather than an 18G in the new year, the figures do seem right for my spec - you must be pleased:thumb:

APIDavid 23 December 2011 09:37 AM

Copied from the other thread.

The roller trace is a bit wiggly not sure why - maybe a bit of wheel spin or something. I think that the 360 is a tad optimistic. BUT; the following car that ought to have made 340 made 337 and had a similar trace - a bit wiggly.

So not sure what we'll start again after Xmas looking at the rollers and see if there is something that might explain the wiggles.

Even so a good result for Dave and apart from the exhaust falling to bits the car hasn't apparently suffered from the events earlier this week.

L.J.F 23 December 2011 10:09 AM

So really now is a good time to get dyno'd for all those chasing numbers and comparing c0ck sizes:D

initialD 23 December 2011 06:59 PM

i have no problem telling my mates i have 360bhp :lol1::lol1: now i understand why good brakes are essential :D

tezjucodie 23 December 2011 07:35 PM

i watch them mapping your motor mate dyno had just been fixed and calibrated so figures were near enough pulled strong nice motor

chopperman 23 December 2011 08:33 PM

I've heard that cars quite often make higher figures on the road than on a dyno because of traction cold air supply and flow ect.
I agree with the other posters, it's just pub talk. If it drives clean and fast and your happy that's the main thing. Most peeps bullsh** in the pub anyway. You know your cars sweet and pulls like a train. Enjoy it mate. There is always going to be someone faster but plenty not as fast !

I guessed 320/320. i was right on the torque but way off on the BHP. Great results imo.

initialD 23 December 2011 09:30 PM

i am enjoying it thats for sure :norty: and they literally pull like trains dont they ! it seems to keep going and going smooth through the revs until you run out of road :lol1: i had a bloke in a posh merc yesterday on my rear bumper revving his engine !! so i like to drive real slow to annoy him for a bit then stopped at some lights , all the time he was revving behind me so on green i pulled away normal and as soon as i got 2nd i floored it 10 seconds later i checked my rear view and he was a mere spec :lol1: av that you cocky pleb ! :hjtwofing he didnt like that very much !

chopperman 23 December 2011 09:34 PM

:lol1::lol1: i had a similar thing with an amg merc the other night. I pulled a bit in front of him in 1st, a little more in 2nd then blew his wheels off in 3rd :lol1::lol1: and that was without using launch control and flat foot shifting

initialD 23 December 2011 11:01 PM

yeah i dont really want to launch it and be to aggressive off the mark !! but i bet its savage !!!!

yes recently i had a vf34 fitted and mapped, but power wasnt really of importance, i wanted to get it mapped for safety and iron out any flat spots, main reason idle was bit wavy at the lights, now its rock steady thanks to bob rawle. :D happy to say car does feel alot better now. but safe!........ish
