starting/battery problem?

Hi guys,

Had a new battery fitted at the start of the year and its been great.

However, now its colder. If I drive/starts the car every day - car will start ok.

Leave it for a day or 2, and try to start it, it will crank for 3-4seconds but still starts ok.

Leave it for 3-4days, and I will need to jump start the car.

The battery have a 5yrs warrentty. But how do I justify is the battery or something else?

Any thoughts?

You need to check and see if anything else is draining the battery, my first idea would be the factory tracker if your car has one. If not, disconnect the battery +ve and put an ammeter between the battery lead and the terminal and see what the current draw is, iirc about 0.5amps is normal, much more than that and there's something left on that is killing the battery.

As well at the tracker, could be a short cct, boot light etc. You're then looking at pulling fuses out one at a time to see if there's a difference and then you can narrow your problem down. Only real drama is if it is the alarm - once you activate it you'll struggle to disconnect the battery whilst keeping it armed:wonder:
