anybody using tein monoflex coilovers
 

just fitted some new tein monoflex coilovers to the car.all the other coilovers i have had,including teins have clicked when adjusting the damping.these dont click,the hex nut just turns.should they be like this and if so how do you know how far to turn before hitting fully soft.as it looks to me like the hex nut will just screw right out?

nobody at all using or know anything about the tein monoflex coilover?

thanks for the links mate but i have already read through them and carnt seem to find the answer i need.i did ring rcm where i got them from but they said they dont sell that many and didnt really know.all i really want to know is if they dont have clicks then how do you know how far to turn hex nut out,or if they should click then why dont mine do it.

apparantley from what that manual says they should click ???

hmm thats interesting.i am beggining to think i am missing some sort of knob or clicker as all there is at the bottom of the strut is the shaft with a hex nut up inside,which i have to get an allen key to fit up inside to adjust.but then all it does is wind in or out.:wonder:

They can be bought individually as I snapped one on the set I bought from you.

Any Tein dealer should be able to get you some.

now were getting somewere,i thought it should have had something like that fitted.nice one mate,al get intouch with tein soon as xmas is out of the way.just hope its the same for mine with them being inverted.:thumb:

you would think for what a set of monoflex coilovers cost then they would atleast supply 4 little clickers to go with them.:D

You can't buy the click adjusters for tein.com they won't supply to the uk unfortunately. It has to be through the uk dealer network.

I tried that and they refunded me and told me to order through Tein uk, who then said to get them through a uk dealer.

Plus what would be the point in paying $40 shipping when they cost less than a tenner each.

I know I feel every bloody stone chip on the road,so so harsh on my back,hence why I am going to sell them

ehh?tein monoflex hard on your back.i had tein flex's on the car when i bought it but had a brand new set of bc rm's in the garage so made the mistake of selling the teins and fitting the bc's.i have gone back to tein monoflex and the difference is like night and day.even without the clicker adjusters for the damping the car is so much more smoother over the bumps in the road,the damping just seems to soak up potholes like there not there.why i ever sold the first set i will never know.

Tein Monoflex are not hard,Tein Basic are hard for UK roads,agree with bigarf i've tried Tein Monoflex and must say i've been impressed,just one thing i would like and this is EDFC

About the shipping from USA yes agree,its too much pay for something which cost here £10 $40USD its OTT

have thought about the edfc unit but i'm into a bit of a weight saving mood at the mo.so every ounce counts.:D

Not sure how much weight EDFC,but in my view no more than 5kg maybe less..

My ( Jap Spec ? ) super streets are quite harsh, but do the job.

Tein stuff isn't optimal for UK roads in my experience. Had the superstreets on my classic and although the build quality was excellent and the EDFC a stroke of genius, they never felt right. If you wanted a decent ride quality, you had to set the dampers low, where they didn't control the springs adequately on the larger bumps making the car feel bouncy. If you set them where they exerted adequate control of the spings, the ride felt way too hard for UK's rubbish roads.

BCs far superior in tems of suitability for crap UK roads in my opinion.

but over the years i have used tein basic which i admit were quite hard but did 5 year and were still going strong when i sold them.tein flex which were lovely on the road and track(regret selling them).bc br's not a bad setup for what they cost.bc rm's served me well while i had them on but could never seem to get used to them,the damping/rebound just didnt seem up to the job as well as them being noisy,and also i had the tein flexs at the side of me when fitting the rm's which just totally put me off them from the start as if you put them both together it looked like the rm's were made from monkey metal.hence why i have now bought a new set of tein monoflex,which i havnt had on long enough to give good feedback but,already i can feel a massive difference in the car.the bumps in the road are just absorbed the top mounts are silent,and the whole feel of the car is much more stable.anyways thats just my opinion having been through quite a few different sets of coilovers.so not slating the bc's as i'm sure lots are happy with them,but i just couldnt get used to them.yes the monoflex are around £1,200 but imo worth every penny.

LOL I agree on the build quality front, the Teins were bloody good. I havent tried the Monoflex. To be honest the Superstreets, seeing as they were being advertised as the more comfort/street orientated ones, put me off a bit. Superb on a decent surface, but they were just sooo uncooth on any poor surface and the NVH with the solid top mounts was awful.

Will try and get a go in a car with Monoflex fitted.

bigarf did you find out if you were missing the click adjusters, or are they not supplied.
I would like to try the flex before i fit to my classic but im miles from you being down near brighton.:(

Bigarf, any feedback on how the Monoflexes are?
I should be fitting mine in the next couple of months along with a few other bits.
