quick question about checking gear box oil... newbie
hi all, as in the title, this is my frist scooby so just want a bit of info...
ive been told they have a dipstick for the gearbox also, is this true? as id like to check as i dont want and damage to the box. if so where bouts is it as ive had a route around and cant see anything. its a my00 impreza gc8 turbo 2000 awd. also if its low what oil weight is recomended and is there any special way to fill it. thanks all :wonder: |
The gearbox oil dipstick is located near the turbo, intercooler & clutch master cylinder at the rear offside of the engine bay :)
The oil should be 75W90 |
A 75w90 for the box, the dipstick is by the turbo so check when its cold...........:D

It's very sensitive to any slope so make sure you're on dead level ground before checking

should the gearbox oil be checked when car is cold are warmed up
or does it even matter |
Usually cold. If you check it hot be prepared to see the oil above the full mark.
