Not sure if these will work on a Ver9 blob as they seem to list up to 2004 not widetrack 2005?

Nope, you having issues with your clock spring? A new one costs £360 for a wide track I don't think a UK part part will fit due to the quick rack unless you get it recal.

I rember seeing a topic on here about someone putting a newer steering wheel from a hawk I think into a bugeye and he had to use his old clock spring because it was causing issues.

Thats the link mate.

I needed one from an Sti due to DDCD sensor & so I think only a Ver9/10 sti will work, not any of above :(
Thanks anyway.
Iv just bought one from Scoobyspares.

I fitted whiteline steering rack bush kit, clock spring all opened up, was buggered anyway from before :( Was working ok until today but now have airbag light on & no horn working as on same loom. Got a second hand Ver 9/10 JDM one from Scoobyspares, though I wonder if a UK Ver9/10 one would also work?

I had a similar issue where the DCCD light started flashing and had to change the the clock spring cost £360 for a new one. I originally tried a UK clockspring, but it didn't work hence me forking out £360 for a new one :(

if dccd unit is that wider plastic on clockspring(probably -my wrx clockspring is without it)it is possible to remove it /swap to jdm like i see

rickya 13 December 2011 06:52 PM

Scoobyparts said IIRC that the UK widetrack one will work with a JDM one?
Will confirm once again tmrw.

juggers 15 December 2011 02:18 AM

bigarf 15 December 2011 07:02 AM

i still have my hawkeye sti shell with the clock spring still in it if.i suppose thatl be the same as yours?

juggers 22 December 2011 12:35 AM

did it work?

rickya 22 December 2011 07:48 AM

Still haven't received it after a week: ( I've had goods from China arrive in less time!

rickya 30 December 2011 02:50 PM

It didn't fit, different plugs:(

rickya 17 January 2012 12:02 PM

After going through 4 different clock springs over the last few weeks :freak3: I thought I would clarify for others future reference:

First point is please centralise the clockspring carefully before fitting or you will break it, as we did the other day! :brickwall

Ver8-Blob
Ver9-Blob widetrack MY05
Ver10-Hawk MY06

-A UK clockspring will not work on a JDM clockspring (Ver 9,10 & maybe 8 & 7 too)

-A JDM Ver9 clockspring is different to a JDM Ver 10 clockspring, it is not the same as just about every breaker & Jap car parts person will tell you.

-But a JDM Ver 10 clockspring can be used on a Ver9 but not vice vera I assume. This is because a Ver 10 Hawk clockspring has an additional third plug which comes off an extra plastic square body, which is attached to the back of the circular body. I have tried using the Ver 10 clockspring on a Ver 9 and it works leaving this extra plug un connected (well it did until we broke it!!) .

-Therfore I assume the Ver9 clockspring would not work on a Ver 10 as it does not come with this additional plug/body. But this extra bit is detachable and can be taken form a Ver 10 & put onto the back of a Ver 9 clockspring. This is what I think Subaru have done rather than a produce a whole new clock spring for a Ver 10.

Its not for the airbag, horn, power or DCCD operation as they all work without this bit. I wonder if it could be an additional DCCD steering input device as only the DCCD torque split changed between Ver9 and Ver10. Could it be that this modifies the DCCD steering input data?? Anyone know?

Pics to follow.
