What injectors for 400bhp?

Hello

I am looking for injectors to fit MY98 Type R, its fully forged engine on 2.5 block, just wanted to know what injectors i should buy to reach that sort of power.

Links would be very helpfull UK/USA doenst matter.

I will have all the supporting mods to reach that power ie. gearbox, turbo, intercooler and brembos to stop the car as well :norty: im just unsure on which injectors should i go for.

Thanks :thumb:

SORRY posted in the wrong session :brickwall

i would go for some 740's m8, then you have more scope for further modding

550cc are unfortunately too marginal - some make only 380+... Others well over 420!

So go for 650cc - they'll clear it, with lots of headroom to spare. Or, as above, 740cc. But both WILL be prohibitively expensive.

The best route is to buy a set of used OEM 440cc "yellows" (£40+) - loads on here and eBay. Then send them off to Mark Aigin at Lateral Performance for ASNU ultrasonic cleaning and flow-matching to 930cc. Price is £185 +VAT = £225. ;)

Mine, with the same basic spec, runs 740's.

Thanks for the replies guys

I have the 440cc yellow at the moment so i think thats what i will do, but wont 930cc be overkill for that kind of power?

Over kill yes but as said, it allows room for more improvements later down the line should you wish.

Well yes.

But it's worth it to save shedlaods of cash and to be 'future proofed' (into the 600s bhp!!!)

The only real thing to worry about is idling/low rpms - sometimes too big a cc can cause rough low speed running.

But they're reflowed with a "V-spray" pattern - i.e. 2 smaller jets of fuel leaving the pintle in an inverted "V" pattern. This aids atomisation and Mark says they'll work particularly well with aftermarket ECUs, such as Simtek, Syvecs, etc...

Shaks-STI 05 December 2011 01:36 PM

thats the they to go then will contact Mark and arrange to have it done.

thanks once again guys

banny, would these be Grant74's - currently with API? ;)

chopperman 05 December 2011 03:48 PM

Theres always a compromise when tuning. What would be the trade-off with fitting overly large injectors?

joz8968 05 December 2011 03:51 PM

See post #7 ^^^

Plus, the ECU may find it hard to control low IDC - so worse fuel consumption could be in the offing(?)

joz8968 05 December 2011 07:31 PM

eggy. they'll be top feeds. If the OP is modding his Classic? (as in his avatar), then he needs Classic side feeds.

Although that said, I think Carl Davy does a top feed to side feed conversion kit - is it rails?

ditchmyster 05 December 2011 08:02 PM

Suprised no one mentioned sti pinks and fpr will hit your target and have known/ guarranteed fuel pressure, 3/3.5 bar and a set of pinks will see you to 450 no probs.

:)

Shaks-STI 06 December 2011 08:13 AM

Guys i have forgot to mention that i have FPR and parallel fuel mod done too, also i will be running the new ESL for V3/V4, Ditchmyster STI pinks are top feed aren't they? I don't want to mod my fuel rails tbh.

ditchmyster 06 December 2011 05:06 PM

They are indeed, but as said the can be modded, think thats your cheapest route.

Shaks-STI 07 December 2011 08:08 AM

I will look into both option and see what i would benefit the most, cheers for the help guys
