REAR DEMISTER QUESTION...???
Does the rear demister on a Classic - specifically on my STi 5 - automatically turn off after it's demisted the rear screen, via a sensor or something? Or does it just turn off after a certain set amount of time? I assumed it does, givien the "non-latching" style switch(?) :wonder:
But... I haven't actually experienced it turning off at all (orange light never seems to extinguish) - i.e. it either takes a really long time to do so... Or it just doesn't! |
Think it's on a timer as my '00 seems to turn off after around 10mins whether the screen is completely clear or not.
|
It is timed via a relay
|
I'll have to time it.
But I've a feeling mine doesn't turn off (if that's actually possible?). Cheers peeps. |
Update...
It DOES turn off! :) Takes c.13mins. on mine. Er.... just thought I'd share that. :D |
AFAIK, the one on my 98 car, (UK sourced) doesn't, I have to do it manually.

mine doesnt turn off, well, the light stays on the dash constant if i have turned the switch
|
"turned"? Don't you mean push?
How long did you leave it? Like I said, my one turned off after 13mins (not 10). |
Mine doesn't turn off by itself, MY00 UK, latching switch.
|
joey, try leaving it for at least c.20mins next time (make a note of the start time). :)
I, like you, THOUGHT mine didn't work..... But it actually DOES! ;) 13mins. |
No, I definetly have. My windows at one point were always misted up, due to leak in the boot. So I used to have it on constantly on most journeys. Unless it turns itself off after it has sensed the window its clear, which sounds a bit complicated for an old car.

Yeah, it's allegedly just on a set timer. Which, as you say, would be appropriate contemporary technology.
In that case then joey...... bugger! :( |
