Power stearing issue
 
strange sound coming from p stearing.

When car running but stoped all ok, once i pull away if i turn to the right all ok, if i turn to the left get a strange sound, a bit like the pump working sound, only noticed it today - any ideas please?

It could be just running low on power steering fluid mate.have a quick check and top up if needed.Mine was making a funny noise a few months ago when it was a bit low.

oh ok will take a look.. silly question - wheres the res. situated on a 2002 bug?

no - just checked it all looks ok to me..

Any other poss ideas?:confused:

The next thing worth checking is the tightness of the belt.It might need adjusting.
If its coming from the pump but it isn't too loud I wouldn't worry too much unless it's annoying.
Mine can be heard a little when I'm driving but I'll wait for it to get a bit noisier before changing it.

cheers m8, its a bit wierd this cos on the drive home tonight it has gone away? will have to keep an eye on it over the next few days..
