Fixing roof spoiler.

See 2nd pic in the link. How is it supposed to be bolted on? Surely no one would drill??????

You can but most people use body bonder.

ScoobySteve69 30 November 2011 05:41 PM

How do you determine the exact position for it?

alcazar 30 November 2011 06:35 PM

From photos, from looking at one that's already on, and from trial and error, put it where YOU think it looks best, you'll not be far out;) then mark with a felt tip, which can later be removed with an alcohol wipe.

I'd use Sika-flex or Tiger-Seal. White spirit to clean up any excess BEFORE it sets.

I know someone that bonded one on, whoosh there it went.... ;)

alcazar 30 November 2011 07:57 PM

Bonded it on with what, though?

I've seen STI spoilers just bonded on, that have held fast at very silly speeds.

I would imagine that the larger surface area of a spoiler would help it stay on better with just bonding compared to the smaller area on a roof spoiler.

I would drill and bolt it on, but then I helped cut a hole in my roof for a Spec C vent ;)

ScoobySteve69 30 November 2011 08:32 PM

I`m not brave enough to drill it :cry:

martin850 30 November 2011 08:59 PM

Get some to do it who is. I can't say I was brave enough to cut the whole in my roof so JonMc made the first drill holes and cuts after that it is too late so relaxed....... A little.

Need to find one first.

baz995 03 December 2011 01:20 PM

dont bond it, screw it on, took me an hour and half today at the body shop, four studs and lock nuts. Bonding is guaranteed to what speed?
