MAF Sensor

Weird one.

I bought a V4 MAF sensor a while back, the part number checked out fine.

Just come to fit it and instead of the correct 2 pin black connector it has a 5 pin white one. I can only think that its been modified to fit another car with a weaker MAF?

What car uses a 5 pin white connector? I can get pics if needs be.

Here is a pic of the connector:

Attachment 56020

Does anyone have any ideas what that would fit? It originally came from claaarkio.

HHHHHHEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPP!!!!!!

MarkCSC 13 December 2011 11:26 AM

I "think" some of the the non-turbo cars had 5 pins

Davros 1979 13 December 2011 03:48 PM

Thanks mate.

Anyone got a definitive answer?

dbay 13 December 2011 04:21 PM

what colour label does it have?

im pretty sure the v4 has a purple lable maff, the v5/6 has a bolt in type sensor that goes in the maff tube :wonder:

Davros 1979 13 December 2011 05:55 PM

Hi mate

the label is orange which is right for a v3/4 car. just the connector is wrong

dbay 13 December 2011 09:06 PM

any pics of the plug on yours :wonder:. im pretty certain your should have a 5 pin as pictured.

MarkCSC 14 December 2011 11:53 AM

I think it should be a three pin as per these pics

Oh annd V3/V4 WRX MAF's are Purple
V3/V4 Sti MAFs are Orange

dbay 14 December 2011 04:04 PM

thats the first time ive seen one with 3 pins

i have 2 green, 1 orange and one purple maff and all have 5 pins (i think ive read somewhere the 5thpin isnt wired up tho) :wonder:

sorry i cant help mate, might be worth while getting a pin out to see if it can be rewired to match you loom.

V3 STI definitely orange label 3 pin. Iv had 3 on mine sourced from various places & all were the same.

You sure it's not a Nissan Z32 MAF? A 'common' replacement/upgrade for the MY97/98 (and MY93-96) cars, as it's physically the same size tube (80mm dia.)....? Does the code end in "...P00" (lol)?

Just a thought.

If so, you need the other side of the connector (obviously), with at least an inch or so of the 5 wires sticking out (called a "pigtail"). Then you can splice it into the OEM loom, and then get rescaled/remapped.... :)

No its def the right part number. 22680aa271.

If anyone wants it let me know as utterly useless to me. Only bought it as a spare.

classicgc8 15 December 2011 04:03 PM

new £426 http://www.japanesemotorspares.co.uk...rts-22680aa271

Davros 1979 15 December 2011 04:19 PM

Yep. Outrageous.

They normally turn up on EBAY for about £100. They dont normally have 5 pins tho!

That's par for the course when accruing bits to modify cars, I'm afraid... :(
