Car Issue!
Hey guys
Last night I drove home from work and my car smelt heavily of fuel, like it was running extremely rich or was over fueling. I couldnt check as it was pitch black last night, drove to work today and the same. I have checked my car today. I think there is a fuel leak, but cannot find it. The smell is wotrst at the drivers side by where the spark plugs are? What should I look for? And I also noticed that a belt has slipped from the pulley at the front of the engine (i **** myself thinking cam belt) but it isnt the cam belt, its the pulley which is attached to what looks like the motor for air con? But I'm not sure! Here is a pick of the pulley https://i406.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1322057446 If it's just the air con belt, am I safe to just cut the belt away and drive it (very limited) till I get a new belt fitted and the fuel leak looked at as I dont want the belt to hit the cam belt and blow my engine up. |
You will probably find your aircon won't work anymore ;)
|
Yes. I have removed the belt as I dont want it hitting my cam belt and writing off my car.
The belt is knackered! lol |
Now to fix the fuel leak issue! :(
Can anyone tell me where I should be looking? |
Wait until engine is cold, turn ignition on to prime pump and check to see if any fuel is leaking from drivers side injectors. Best off doing it cold as when hot the fuel can evapourate fairly quickly :)

This was my belt which was off the pulley. It had already split. I did cut it to remove it from next to my cam belt!

I found out what the issue was, there is a leaking fuel line which is located under neath the steel pipe where it splits.

Don't think you should be driving it buddy until that leak is seen to.
|
Yes, I'm not. I have got a mate from work picking me up in the morning :) And will be sorting the fuel hose tomorrow after work.
|
You may even have to remove the manifold to get to it
|
I hope not... that will be a massive pain!
|
Well tonight has been a massive ball ache!
I tried to get to the leaking fuel hoses, and spent over an hour trying Inter cooler - removed! Induction hoses - removed! Plastic covers - removed! Radiator tank - removed! No joy! This is the state of my car at the moment. https://img341.imageshack.us/img341/...2890240533.jpg Tomorrow I'm gunna have to get the manifold off as that is the only way to get to the fuel hoses which are leaking! Note - my spark plugs ghetto mod where I have to plug them to stop all my fuel from my tank leaking out as I managed to release the clip on the one side of the damaged hose and petrol was peeing out of it, however access to the clip the other end requires a manifold removal :( |
