scooby clinic sc40 20g turbo any one got one

right just been offered it in swap for my 4pots only done 1000miles i'm running a 18g right now and have simtek and quite big speck and getting mapped again soon so thats not going to cost any more than before but will it be really laggy ? some1 told me that if i fit my 18g exhaust housing on the 20g will cut down on lag is this true ?

P1Drifter 18 November 2011 10:53 PM

if its a genuine sc40 id snap that offer up real quick if i were you, i dont find the 20g laggy personally, the exhaust housings are the same so not really much point in swapping

As said, the 18g and 20g turbos are the same... except... the 20g has a bigger compressor wheel to shift more lbs of air.

You should gain anywhere between 20-40bhp over the 18g (everything else being equal). And what with its billet comp wheel, then there will hardly be any spool loss compared to the 18g, either.

And without doubt, you're getting the better deal! Brand new, the SC40 is £950 +VAT! :)

Does the SC40 have the 33% lighter billet comp wheel - can't remember?

so i'll be up around the 420-440bhp mark with meth then ? right getting it whats my 18g worth ? it's done 3000km

MattyB1983 18 November 2011 11:15 PM

There is an SC40 20G on Pistonheads I've seen tonight. Chap wants £300 for it if anybody else is after one.

If all your other supp. mods are up to the job and healthy, then with 20+% meth + V-P it's highly likely that you'll see 400-420.

440 is prob asking a bit too much, but each car/set-up is unique, and nothing is absolute/for certain.

right got just over 400bhp right now running 20%meth on a 18g with a 2.1 stroker simtek this would take a wile but hole setup in about 5000km old

averyp2 18 November 2011 11:38 PM

Sure it's a billet?

Oh 2.1! That helps. ;)

Theoretically, then you should get 420+ then. But nothing's set in stone.

sonicvr6 18 November 2011 11:41 PM

dont think it is but should still be a 400bhp turbo on v-power right ?

Yep, it is:-

"XT-R" Billet turbos

joz8968 18 November 2011 11:47 PM

Typically, the mean bracket for 20g's is 370-400 on V-P (on a 2.0L).

But the Billet range are good performers, so hopefully it'd make near the higher end of that bracket.

MattyB1983 18 November 2011 11:50 PM

The advert doesn't say billet though, could be an older model.

joz8968 18 November 2011 11:54 PM

Yeah, I think the SC40 did start out life as non-XT-R Billet.

But SC certainly now sell it as an XT-R Billeted jobbie. :)

Rob Day 18 November 2011 11:58 PM

If its anything like the one I was looking at on here before its a Blouch SC40 20G.

I emailed Kev at SC to ask him this week about them, he said:

Hi,

the standard 20 G ( sc40 ) is still a great turbo, 400 BHP capable.

I have attached a small write up regarding tuning the sti, worth a read

cheers
Kev

joz8968 19 November 2011 12:00 AM

Yeah, isn't the Blouch Dominator and the XT-R series effectively one and the same? Just marketing?

Pramas 19 November 2011 12:14 AM

u should make 400hp with it, some may make 420 others wont, so aim for 400 and any extra is a bonus

Blouch and Scoobyclinic are same, just Scoobyclinc use smaller exhaust housing(7CM) and Blouch using 8CM/10CM

Blouch Dominator is Dominator nothing more, nothing less, difference is between the R(non billet version of Dominator) and XT-R(Billet version of Dom)

Blouch turbos are here Scoobyclinic and Scoobyclinic is probably only one seller of Blouch in EU...

How to say,i was sold mine Dom 3.0XT-R due have 10CM exhaust housing, this turbo will make full boost on 2.1 with AVCS around 4200-4400RPM what i know and what i ask few people on Nasioc, this turbo is best for 2.35L or 2.5L..

Honest answer don't know,on 2.5L you will be OK with 8CM or even 10CM,as i said few times before with 8CM you will not loose spool so much(against 7CM),but with 10CM you loose spool, but you will gain on Top end.

right now iam running a harvey smith 20g with 8cm housing and its on boost 1bar at 3k rev, then full boost at 4k and cant fault it, iam guessing from what u said the blouch is the way forward

joz8968 19 November 2011 12:41 AM

A 2.5's extra 500cc will be able to easily drive an 8cm housing (therefore not suffer slow spool), so if you were to fit it, you'll gain some extra bhp over the 7cm. :)

Conversely, you can fit the 7cm to a 2.5 to have an ultra early-spooling motor (but won't be able to make as much power as the 8cm.)

With 7CM exhaust housing(on 20G) you will gain something on spool, but not sure how much.
On 2.5L you should be all right like 8CM or even 10CM,if you are looking at Nasioc and other US sites you will see mostly guys there don't running AVCS and still making reasonably good boost at nice RPM with 8CM/10CM..

right that is the turbo i'm getting in the add and as i've running 400 right now them what will i see with it ?

joz8968 19 November 2011 11:42 AM

On your 2.1 with 20% meth + V-P, then I reckon you'll get at least 420. But you 'should' get nearer 440+, as you said.

Just keep your 18g to one side until after the mapping though (just in case that SC40 don't make the numbers!)... ;)

sonicvr6 19 November 2011 11:56 AM

ok i'll hang tight with it will need a custom compressor housing making 1st like i did with the 18g cos i got a v2 engine
