Most effective way to get 350bhp from my sti 6?

Hi

I have an sti 6 currently running 300bhp with the following mods:
3inch fully decatted exhaust, uprated fuel pump and a Ecu-Tek remap.

I want to get it to the 350bhp mark and want to know which mods are the most effective to achieve that figure?

I am also considering getting a bigger turbo as the vf28 i have has started whining under full boost. Could this be the turbo or a leak elsewhere as the turbo seems to boost up fine but just whines under full boost?

Thanks

You'll be running the risk of your gearbox going pop at that figure mate.

But bigger turbo TD05 18G. Bigger injectors and newage STI top mount. Ported headers and uppipe

a td05 18g will have a good amount of surge and is a bit inferior in terms of spool and driveability than an evo3 trimmed 16g.

For an easy 350, try a td06 20G or a td05 evo3 16g with an external gate

You'll need FMIC, induction kit, injectors, VF48 and poss ported headers

just get your self a vf 35 on there or a andy forest or harvey smith tdo5 18g with some of harvey smith ported standard headers and maybe some 550cc injectors or just fuel pressure reg to help them 440cc out, fmic or a sti8 tmic, you may want to get a a brake upgrade or at least some good pads and discs and your gear box should be ok as your is the later classic box and mine run 350hp on an old classic sti box

Full de-cat
FMIC & cone
Pump & remap
=340hp (on my v3 anyway)
standard box and turbo going well.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I was considering one of the ihi turbos possibly the vf34,vf35,vf43 or even the vf48? But the td05 18g seems a popular upgrade!
Regarding the fmic ive been told it can be abit laggy compared to the sti8 tmic? is that the case and would the sti8 tmic be as effective as the fmic?

thanks

I went from 308hp to 340hp just from a hybrid FMIC and k&n. I cant see you getting them gains from an sti8 top mount. I did'nt find it any more laggy either.

First I suggest you listen to people that have actually done it and know what they are talking about.
You need a turbo capable of 350 bhp so that could be a TD05 18G, VF34 or VF43. All these turbos can deliver the power output you require.
The standard injectors are yellow 440s which run out of duty cycle somewhere between 325 and 340 bhp so you need a set of 550 phase 2 side feed injectors. These would see you all the way to around 400 bhp.
An efficient front mount intercooler like a Hybrid HDi will make it far easier to develop power and release more power than you can expect from an STi TMIC. The OE airbox is good to 350 bhp without difficulty with a K+N filter but if you are fitting a front mount you will lose the airbox and should fit a large cone.
Ported headers and matched uppipe will make the engine operation that much more efficient and willing.
Entrust the Ecutek mapping to someone who knows what they are doing.
With the above mods you will have a fast reliable car. The gearbox on your car is a TY754 which is far stronger than the TY752 in MY98 and prior cars. I am operating two cars around 450 bhp with TY754 and there are numerous similar examples. Just don't drive like an animal.
