Taking kids to Disney Land when should we tell them?

As above really my two boys are 7&3 they have no idea we are going, should we tell them a week before to build up excitement or should we just tell them the morning we are going? :wonder:

Our kids knew for months - quite pragmatic about it really.

It depends on your kids really.

If they drink a lot of Sunny D I wouldn't tell them until you get there!

I would leave little clues around the house for them to find a week before hand and see if they can guess their going.
I think telling a child something as exciting as that could lead to alot of 'Are we nearly there?' questions.
But then someone children are very good and very patient, plus u can bribe them and say only if their good can they go!! :norty::thumb:

This - and tell them you'll send them a postcard once you get there :D

That morning would be cool.

Give them some time to look forward to it. I went twice as a kids and the excitement is all part of it. It will help them understand they have to wait for things too.

The excitement will be almost painful for them.

Hope it's Disney World (i.e Florida) not that French rubbish

Give them some notice at least so they can tell all their friends, sometimes the idea of going is just as good as going ;)

Jimbob 15 November 2011 06:12 PM

Wouldn`t tell them.

I`d say that you were going to stay with an old uncle/aunt, and its going to be boring, and you have to take them as they can`t stay home. Then when they see the signs it won`t twig until your near parking hopefully.

Didn't tell ours until the morning we went.

However, they were already excited as we were in Tokyo at the time :)

A freind of ours told their children (x3) when they were at the airport. They managed to get all the way to check-in before they told them. They said they were going for a holiday in the south, and would they like to stop off at the airport on the way to watch the planes. They then said that they could not leave their bags in the car due to security so had to take them all into the airport. I don't know how they managed to keep it going so long. I'm crap at that sort of thing.

Yep the morning you go.

We took ours to

that French rubbish
a couple of years ago at Christmas and gave them each a letter form Santa telling them where they were going when we woke them in the morning to go to the Airport.

Doing the same this year :D

Oh yes.

My kids are entitled to food, clothing, shelter and medical attention.
Anything else they get is a privilege.

Should think themselves lucky they went...
;)

On the day ?
No way ..... A week before so they can let there imaginations run away with them.
It's apart of the experience, don't sell your kids short!

RobsyUK 16 November 2011 07:35 PM

Dont tell them! Just turn up at the doors !!!

Leslie 17 November 2011 12:36 PM

If you tell then a week before-they might become very well behaved in case you change your mind!

Les :D
