Scoobies the never ending saga:

Not sure what to do:

1. Keep the wagon, TBH there nothing really wrong with just getting on a bit on 71k now, nice everyday car, just had a new clutch, i've put the comfy leather in and upgraded the stereo and still kills M3 e46's at the lights :D

2. Buy this: http://pistonheads.com/sales/3393211.htm, although standard, good project, ideal track car,....not a good every day but what the hell life is for living.......

3. This http://bbs.22b.com/cgi-bin/ultimateb...;f=27;t=001446 perfect every day some nice rims jobs a good'en, not really good for track thou will probably blow up...

or go nuts and buy this

4. http://pistonheads.com/sales/2973130.htm ....perfect for everything....and VS the standard spec c by the time I've spent money on upgrades I'll probably be in the same amount of money anyway.

Opinions welcome:freak3:

All are cracking looking cars but if you are set on a change I would say go mad or go for the spec c (just be careful this time ;))

madisonmonkey 07 November 2011 03:57 PM

Option 1: Very sensible, but if you've got the money.....

Option 2: Does it really need much more than an exhaust and a map?
(thats still 1.5k though)

Option 3: Not for me thanks.

Option 4: Seems good value but has been for sale for months. Hawkeye spec C's are gay.
( It has a UK front bumper)

M444GY 07 November 2011 05:18 PM

 love it

Arkwright 07 November 2011 06:43 PM

I like the gay red one :thumb:

stevie turbo 07 November 2011 06:54 PM

there all crap apart from the white one, i think you would be better of buying mine lol nice and cheap and still have loadsa money in you bin............

JonMc 07 November 2011 10:00 PM

1. Perfect sleeper, and will continue to embarrass a few unsuspecting motors with a bit of potential to extract a few more horses, but as Jim says if money's not the object and you want a toy...

2. You've done the Spec C and as they say you should never go back.

3. I'm actually quite taken by the hatch - strip it out, build a decent engine for it and go against the grain:D

4. I like the colour and it's decent spec, but it's a converted WRX - why not take your wagon to a similar spec and save some pennies:wonder:

R6HNN 08 November 2011 12:21 AM

As much as I love hawkeye imprezas, and I love red cars, I think its not worth spending £20k on option 4.
Out of the choices I'd say go with the hatch and make it stand out.
Otherwise find yourself a nice JDM STI Hawkeye

Mikee 08 November 2011 08:26 AM

Spec C would be my weapon of choice- always liked it. The hatch could look pretty tasty too with some subtle mods.

If all else fails the C-Max is for sale...

mantazini 08 November 2011 10:26 AM

If money is not an object.....

Hatch + 2.1 = 450ish???

Although it doesn't look agressive as the other ones, with that power it will be a sleeper, handle better ? with some subtle mods of course, and a better everyday cruiser for sure...

:Whatever_

wiley 08 November 2011 02:46 PM

be different a get the hatch, i would

wiley

IAN WR1 08 November 2011 06:47 PM

i would get a hatch and then get the engine sorted after i broke it :lol1:

Exactly what I was going to say.
Though I would do stage 1 mods / map and then drive it till, if and when it goes snap rattle and pop! Keep a few thousand £k aside for a rebuild.

a5h 10 November 2011 12:12 AM

Some good opinions but I would personally go for the hatch and do as Ricky says seems the best way forward.

rickya 10 November 2011 11:21 AM

The only Scooby I'll be changing mine for (which wont be for a couple of years yet :wonder: !! :D), would be a 2008 onwards shape JDM hatch or saloon. I would consider a UK model if it was either: very well priced; or with big mods already done to offset the future cost of an uprated engine rebuild; or buy one with already uprated engine by a reputable tuner.

ps: though if you go the brand new route the warranty hopefully will cover you for your engine going pop.

Oh how true Ash, Ricky's just lucky that Meenu doesn't have a scoobynet account or he'd be getting told "not again you don't"

Lol

Is it only me that thinks it's daft thinking about buying a car knowing/expecting it to go pop? :wonder: Seriously where's the sense in that. Why would you purposely set about buying a product you know won't last.

I'm not going to harp on about the Spec C but surely the power/performance/handling is good enough for most? Do you really see any real gains on a day to day basis having a 400bhp modded UK or Jap spec car over the standard 320-340 of the spec C. I'd say point to point on most roads you'd not notice any difference.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is performance with reliability is key for me.;)

And to be honest Guv, regardless of what you get it'll spend most of it's time in bodyshops anyway so don't worry too much about what you get. :D

IAN WR1 10 November 2011 09:16 PM

shocking how the hatch is getting some great feedback  from a car that a couple of years ago not many people liked :wonder::luvlove::thumb:

Very true Mikee
Jackies car is faster and easier to drive on normal roads than mine
The spec c gets my vote
I have been watching the red hawk for a while though to see what it goes for

Guv 11 November 2011 12:17 PM

Thanks for all of the replies guys, most definitely some food for thought, Still not sure what to do.

I have been on the phone to the chap with the Spec C , it hasn't been remapped for UK fuel since it was imported and his wife uses it as a shopping car:rolleyes: so that does raise a few concerns and He seems to be bit of a know it all when I mentioned that wasn't a good thing.

The hatch is nice and I would love to to own one but the engine going pop is something that would be on my mind too much, so again not sure.

The Red hawk is maybe a bit pricey for me at the moment TBH and I don;t think he'll be giving it away any time soon......

So it look like I'll be sticking with the trusty wagon for now maybe look for a 2nd hand set of coilovers and droplinks for now and save a few more pennies for a JDM hatch:idea:
