gauge problem
hi just wired up my autogauge water gauge lights ok but wont give me a reading from the sendor i have wired the white wire from the sendor to the green on the gauge and the black from the sender to the earth point in the engine bay am i missing something cheers
|
should be a red wire for the +12v too
|
cheers didnt get any instructions with them so do i wire the red to the white wire aswell as the green
|
red to ignition power
black to earth green to the signal. If the sender has 2 wires then that requires earthing too. |
yes the sendor has 2 wires so this is how ive wired it up
gauge red ignition power gauge black earth bodywork gauge green to sendor whie wire sendor black to bodywork earth is there anything im missing from that |
nope, that should be it. Does it illuminate? if it does then you have a decent power/earth.
Whats the minimum on the gauge? Could take time to warm up to the minimum temperature |
yes illuminates fine the minimum is 40 could just be it needs time to heat up as you say im using a adaptor in the hose and it has a small threaded bit in the adaptor should i earth that too
|
Yes, otherwise it won't read.
Also give it time to heat up. As an example, my Defi w/t gauge starts to move after about a minute, the car's own doesn't register until the Defi reaches 60 degrees. |
ok will earth the hose adaptor tomorrow thought as i had earthed the sendor i wouldnt need to earth the hose adaptor aswell cheers guys
|
Maybe you don't need to if you have earthed the sender properly. Give it a temporary earth to check.
|
Thanks for all the help guys its working now bad earth from sendor to bodywork ran a bit of wire to the earth on the battery worked fine will sort it after work cheers again
